Matthew O’Regan has his Leicester vs Fulham betting preview readied as the ninth-placed Londoners travel to the Midlands to face the Foxes (19th). While Fulham will be chasing that illustrious Europa Conference League spot, survival for Leicester is more important than ever – especially given the financial implications. Fulham ran out 2-1 winners when the sides met in August and a similar scoreline is expected on Saturday.

Leicester vs Fulham Prediction: Free-scoring Fulham hard to stop

England, Premier League, Saturday, January 18th, 15:00 (UK)

Leicester stormed to the Championship title and earned an instant promotion back to the Premier League. Enzo Maresca was poached by Chelsea after his stellar work, while Kiernan Dewsbury Hall was also pinched by his ex-boss. Steve Cooper was hired as the Italian’s replacement but the 45-year-old was sacked after just a few months in charge.

Manchester United legend Ruud Van Nistelrooy was hired as his replacement after impressing in his brief interim spell at Old Trafford. While the 48-year-old joined the Kingpower with a big reputation, he has failed to inspire his side, with them languishing down in 19th with six league losses in a row.

The Dutchmen started with a 3-1 win over West Ham and 2-2 draw with Brighton but the Foxes were second best in both of these games and it was a sign of things to come. Since then, Leicester have conceded sixteen goals in six games in a disappointing run.

Van Nistelrooy is yet to keep a clean sheet in his nine games – a worrying sign for a side who have scored just two goals in the last six games. While Leicester were poor under Cooper, they were still potent in front of goal – scoring in all bar one game – a trip to Old Trafford without Jamie Vardy. Now, they are struggling to score and struggling to concede less than two a game – a very worrying sign ahead of the visit of Fulham.

Midweek, Fulham lost 2-3 to West Ham in a bizarre game that saw The Hammers score three of their four shots, with defensive errors costing the Whites. It made it three Premier League games without a win for the Lilywhites after 2-2 draws at home to Bournemouth and Ipswich.

Still, they are harbouring hopes for European qualification and a win in the Midlands will boost their chances. Despite not winning in their last three Premier League games, Fulham have scored at least two in their last five in all competitions, including a 1-2 victory at Chelsea. Marco Silva’s side have also scored two at Anfield and the Etihad and three at home to Newcastle. They have only failed to score in the season opener at Old Trafford and the recent drab 0-0 home draw with Southampton.

With The Foxes at sixes and sevens defensively, Fulham will fancy their chances of getting on the scoresheet at least twice.

Leicester vs Fulham Injuries, Team News and Possible Lineups Prediction: Goalkeeper a prominent issue at Leicester

Mads Hermansen was an inspired signing by Leicester, making 44 league appearances en route to the Championship title in his debut season. The 24-year-old started this season in fantastic form and The Foxes would be a lot worse off in the goals conceded column without his heroics. The 24-year-old was injured in the first half of the 4-0 defeat to Newcastle in December and is yet to play since. Danny Ward and Jakub Stolarczyk have both filled in but have both struggled, leaving Van Nistelrooy with a tough decision.

Livewire attacker Abdul Fatawu, midfield anchor Wilfried Ndidi and marauding full back Ricardo Pereira are all injured. It will be intriguing to see how Leicester set up, with Van Nistelrooy seemingly neglecting star attacker Facundo Buonanottte in recent weeks.

Fulham will be without Kenny Tete, Sander Berge and Reiss Nelson for the trip to the Midlands.

Leicester possible starting lineup:
Stolarczyk; Justin, Faes, Vestergaard, Kristiansen; Winks, Soumare; Buonanotte, El Khannous, Mavididi; Vardy

Fulham possible starting lineup:
Leno; Castagne, Anderson, Bassey, Robinson; Lukic, Cairney; Iwobi, Smith Rowe, Wilson; Jimenez
