Andalusian side Cadiz urgently need to add points to escape the relegation zone. They will view Monday night’s draw at 10-man Granada as a missed opportunity and the visit of Rayo Vallecano gives them an instant chance to make up for it.
The Madrid side, 12th, have lost five games in a row in La Liga and face Real Betis in the Copa del Rey on Thursday night. That semi-final second leg is their priority and that likely draining encounter leaves the door open for Cadiz to strike. Their home form this season has been poor, yet to win in front of one of the rowdiest crowds in the division, and this could be the opportunity to turn it around. With eight draws from 13 home games though, we’ll take out a little insurance on that possibility.

Xavi Hernandez’s Barcelona have really clicked into gear over the last few matches, remorselessly putting four goals past Atletico Madrid, Valencia, Napoli and Athletic Bilbao. Their win over the latter also sealed three consecutive triumphs for the first time this season.
At the back, however, Barcelona have still let up chances, with one clean sheet in their last six games. Considering their upcoming clash against Galatasaray on Thursday March 10th in the Europa League, Xavi might be tempted to rest some of his first-team for the visit to Elche.
The hosts scored twice at Camp Nou against Barcelona and also put two past Real Madrid in January. Francisco’s side have netted five goals in their last two home games, so we can expect goals in this one. I’m backing both teams to score and Barcelona to win.

The last time they let in fewer than two goals away from home was in a surprise 2-1 win at Atletico Madrid in December. It’s a good chance for Celta striker Iago Aspas to add to his goal tally. Real Betis and Atletico Madrid are two teams that you can rely on for goals this season. For the Andalusians, it’s long been the case, but for Diego Simeone’s side, it’s more recent.
