Juventus vs Genoa Prediction: Team News and Lineups Preview

Our Italian football expert, Daniele Fisichella, with his Juventus vs Genoa prediction, team news, lineups and fixture preview. After last Sunday’s home draw against Atalanta the Bianconeri have dropped into third position in Serie A as they hunt Champions League football next term.
Therefore, this game on Sunday lunchtime is a must win for them. But the visitors, who are virtually safe, have always proved a tough nut to crack for Italy’s top sides. Our Juventus vs Genoa prediction is for Juventus to win the match 2-1.
- Juventus vs Genoa Tip 1: Both Teams To Score – Yes

Juventus vs Genoa Prediction 1: negative results despite good performances
Italy, Serie A, Sunday, March 17th, 11:30 (UK)
Juventus mini-crisis continued at the weekend as the hosts dropped other points against Atalanta and have been leapfrogged by AC Milan in the table.
In the space of just seven games, Massimiliano Allegri’s side went from challenging for the Scudetto (they were just one point behind Inter before the big match in San Siro on 4 February) to having to defend qualification to next season’s Champions League.
Bologna and Roma are respectively still seven and ten points away, but since 27 January, only five teams have collected fewer points than Juve.
One win, three defeats, four draws, eight goals conceded in the last four games and no clean sheets since 21 January.
Numbers that testify a harsh reality: Juventus are no longer able to hold on to leads and have lost that combative spirit that carried them through the first part of the season.
Perhaps, as many suspected, the Bianconeri had been pushing way above their weight and ultimately their shortcomings, and lack of creativity upfront, emerged.
However the overall performances against both Napoli and Atalanta were good, Juve created more than its oppositions (in fact they prevailed on xG on both occasions), but were punished by individual defensive mistakes.
Juventus had conceded goals in each of their last four Serie A home games: their worst streak since the end of the 2021-22 season when they also conceded in four games in a row at the Juventus Stadium.

Juventus vs Genoa Prediction 2: Il Grifone can stifle top teams
Juve attacked Atalanta at the start and in the second half and almost completed a spectacular comeback.
Allegri asked his men to push forward more than Gasperini did. That’s no small thing, and it confirms that Bianconeri has started a new trend in the last couple of games.
However, it is almost like the draw against Empoli (1-1 at home at the end of January) has made Juve lose its self-belief, and often, the lack of quality upfront limits the number of chances they can create.
Genoa have lost back-to-back games for the second time this season, but the defeat against Monza has not dented their hopes of achieving salvation.
Last Saturday Il Grifone started very slowly as they conceded two goals in the first 18 minutes but reacted in the second half when, thanks to Alberto Gilardino’s changes, they showed more courage and managed to, temporarily, equalize.
The newly-promoted Rossoblù have been a very solid and organized side so far, capable of stifling, especially at home, some of Italy’s top teams. In fact they took points off Lazio, Napoli (twice), Roma, Inter and of course Juventus with a 1-1 draw back in December.

Juventus vs Genoa Prediction 3: Dusan is raring to go
Genoa have only been beaten by two goals or more once (2-0 vs Atalanta) on the road this season and have scored in five of their last six away games.
However, the visitors also conceded first in nine of their 14 trips, but managed to rescue six points (second best record, behind Napoli, Sassuolo and Bologna) from a losing position away from Marassi.
If Gilardino’s men will play with the same courage they did against Inter they’ll certainly cause Juve some troubles.
On the other hand, the return of Dusan Vlahovic from suspension is a great boost for the hosts.
The Serbian striker is not only Serie A’s second top goalscorer (15, eight less than Lautaro Martinez) but also Juventus main source of shots (87) and shots on target (32).
In Napoli, Vlahovic missed three big chances (to bring his season’s tally to 12, he’s top with Kvaratskhelia), but has found the net five times in Juve’s last four home games.
Genoa have only kept three clean sheets in the last 17 matches in all competitions and conceded away from home on all but two occasions (1-0 win at Lazio and 0-0 draw vs Empoli).
- Juventus vs Genoa Prediction 3: Dusan Vlahovic Anytime Goalscorer (TRACKED BET)
- Best Odds: 2.40
- Bookmaker: bet365
- Stake: 9/10

Juventus vs Genoa Team News and Possible Lineups: Juve’s top scorer is back, Sabelli suspended
Allegri should deploy his trusted 3-5-2 with Gatti, Bremer and Danilo in defense. Miretti, Locatelli and McKennie will play in the middle with Iling Jr and Cambiaso as wing-backs. Chiesa and Vlahovic, who returns from suspension, will be upfront. Perin and Alcaraz are injured, Rabiot and De Sciglio are doubt.
The visitors are without Sabelli, suspended, as well as Matturro, Haps and Ankeye all injured. Gilardino will also play with a 3-5-2 formation with De Winter, Bani and Vasquez as center-backs. Messias, Badelj and Strootman will be in midfield, with Gudmundsson (ten goals this season) and Retegui up front.
Juventus possible starting lineup: Szczesny, Bremer, Gatti, Danilo, Iling Jr., Miretti, Locatelli, McKennie, Cambiaso, Vlahovic, Chiesa
Genoa possible starting lineup: Martinez, Bani, Vasquez, De Winter, Vogliacco, Messias, Badelj, Strootman, Frendrup, Retegui, Gudmundsson
