Getafe vs Barcelona Best Bet: Betting Preview
The Super Cup champions return to La Liga action this weekend and our expert Nathan Joyes has provided his Getafe vs Barcelona Best Bet, team news, lineups and fixtures preview.
Barcelona currently occupy 3rd place ahead of round 20, six points behind Atletico Madrid, who can’t afford to see that extend to nine if they are to remain in the title race and collect their second trophy of the campaign.
Getafe are languishing in 15th, although they have picked up 14 of their 19 points in front of their own supporters. After consecutive La Liga defeats, Getafe returned to winning ways against Las Palmas on the road, but haven’t beaten Barcelona since 2020. Can they break that unwanted record this weekend?
Getafe vs Barcelona Best Bet 1: Bank on Barca to get the job done
Spain, La Liga, Saturday, January 18th, 20:00 (UK)
Barcelona return to Spain with a trophy under their belt after a 5-2 hammering against Real Madrid. They’ll be in a confident mood but it’s back to work for Hansi Flick if they are to stay close to Atletico Madrid at the top of the table.
Their win over Real Madrid made it three wins on the bounce after falling short against Atletico and Leganes in the league, and it appears as though Barcelona are back on track. Their title bid is far from over after just 19 rounds – but these are matches fans expect them to win.
However, it won’t be easy. Getafe have only lost one of their last five home matches against the Spanish giants (W1 D3 L1), and having picked up the vast majority of their points at home, it’ll be a tighter contest than many predict.
The hosts have only lost two home matches this campaign across all competitions against Girona (1-0) and Mallorca (1-0). Having conceded just five from their eight La Liga games, Jose Bordalas has made his team a real unit and one that is difficult to break down.
Another advantage for the hosts is just how hectic Barcelona’s recent schedule has been. Their Super Cup matches in Saudi added further congestion to their schedule, before facing Betis in the Copa Del Rey three days later – and then this match on Saturday. Getafe will look to take advantage of some tired legs within their camp.
However, it would be foolish to dismiss Flick’s side who have the best away record in La Liga, who have surprisingly dropped more points at home. Despite Getafe’s poor record on the road, they only fell to a 1-0 defeat in the reverse leg, and back in front of their own supporters, they’ll look to make the 90 minutes as unpleasant as they possibly can for their visitors.
Barcelona’s recent fixtures have been full of goals, but that’s not the case when they meet Getafe in their own back yard, nor when they met this campaign either. The hosts are heavily reliant on their home form, but have shown to be a difficult side for most who have travelled to the Coliseum.
With Barcelona potentially having to rotate or with some tired legs within the squad, and with Getafe’s resilience at home, this might be a rare game to back unders on the goal market.
At the time of writing, under 2.5 goals is priced at evens, which has landed in not only four of their last five meetings, but in all eight La Liga home games for Getafe this season.

Getafe vs Barcelona Injuries, Team News and Possible Lineups
Barcelona head into this fixture with no fresh injury concerns after their Super Cup victory but we may see some rotations within the squad due to their hectic schedule. However, it’s highly unlikely their captain Raphinha will be dropped, who added to his impressive tally with a brace against Real Madrid last time out.
Robert Lweandowski joined him on the scoresheet once again, and the duo will be two players Getafe will have to marshall out the game if they are to walk away with any points.
Getafe welcome back 31-year-old Diego Rico after he was suspended for accumulating five yellow cards this season, and the Spaniard is likely to return to the starting XI. However, 36-year-old Allan Nyom won’t be joining him who remains on the sidelines – who has also missed the last two matches.
Getafe possible starting lineup:
Soria; Rico, Alderete, Duarte, Djene, de Costa, Arambarri, Mila, Alena, Uche, Yildrim
Barcelona possible starting lineup:
Szczęsny; Balde, Martinez, Cubarsi, Kounde, Pedri, Casado, Gavi, Yamal, Raphinha, Lewandowski
