The 2024/25 Europa League season is set to bring more excitement with significant changes to its competition format. For the first time, the tournament will feature 36 teams, promising even more thrilling matchups across Europe. In this new format, each team will play eight matches during the group stage—four at home and four away.

New Format Details

The top 8 teams in the overall standings will automatically advance to the Round of 16. Meanwhile, teams placed 9th to 24th will compete in an additional Round of 32. Unfortunately, the remaining teams will see their European campaigns end at this stage.

Notable Absences and Teams to Watch

This season, no Polish team has qualified for the Europa League. Jagiellonia Białystok, who were close to making it, were eliminated by Ajax Amsterdam in the play-off round.

Despite this, the tournament will feature several high-profile clubs. Teams such as Manchester United, Tottenham Hotspur, AS Roma, and Lazio are set to compete, making this one of the most anticipated seasons yet.
