ITALY | 1.53 | 1.05 | 11.0 |
SWITZERLAND | 5.50 | 1.57 | 2.25 |

Italy are coming into this tournament in excellent form, winning five matches in a row in all competitions. Italy were one of only two teams – alongside Belgium – to win 100% of their games in the Euro 2020 qualifying campaign (10/10). They scored 37 goals in their 10 Euro 2020 qualification matches (3.7 per game).
Italy play a very fast-paced and offensive style of football, resulting in high-scoring results. At the same time, Italy have not conceded a goal in their last six matches and are playing extremely well. Italy’s squad is the most expensive in Group A at 919 million euros.
Second in line to win the group is Switzerland with 5,50 odds. Switzerland play a slightly different style of football to Italy, relying on direct plays across the pitch at a much higher rate. They don’t push the tempo quite as much, and they have scored more than one goal in only one of their 13 games at the European Championships.
Turkey have emerged recently as one of the better teams in the World Cup with solid results in their first two matches. That said, Turkey rely mostly on their counterattack to generate offense and don’t hang on to the ball too much.
Their defense hasn’t been as consistent as they need it to be, keeping only one clean sheet in their last nine matches.
Wales is the team the bookmakers least expect to win the group at 8,00 odds. Like Turkey, Wales also do not rely on the possession game but rely on their counterattack to create opportunities.
They also have a great reliance on their high press, and are above average in that regard by 24%. Wales are second in group A in that category, right behind Italy.
Wales scored 1.25 goals per game in the Euro 2020 qualifying campaign (10 goals in 8 games), one of the lowest scoring performances in the tournament.

BELGIUM | 1.72 | 1.083 | 8.0 |
DENMARK | 3.75 | 1.22 | 4.0 |
RUSSIA | 5.0 | 1.44 | 2.62 |
FINLAND | 17.0 | 3.50 | 1.28 |
Belgium are ranked first in the national team power rankings and are coming into this tournament valued at 7,00 odds to win it all. They play a high-possession game that can overwhelm opponents.
They avoid using direct plays across the pitch but use their fast tempo and crossing to create opportunities on offense.
Belgium were one of only two teams – alongside Italy – to win 100% of their games in the Euro 2020 qualifying campaign (10/10).
They also scored more goals than any other team (40) whilst setting the joint-best defensive record (3 goals conceded in 10 games). Belgium’s team is valued at 686,6 million euros, more than Denmark’s and Russia’s squads combined (504,5 total).
Denmark is the second favorite to win Group B at 3,75 odds. Denmark has been playing extremely well, scoring 14 goals in their last three matches.
That said, Denmark has faced Belgium twice since September 2020 and lost both matches with an aggregate result of 2:6. Their tempo of play and sustained threat frequency are lower than that of Belgium, leading to an insufficient number of opportunities on goal.
Russia are coming into the tournament valued at 5,00 odds to win the group and 67,00 odds to win the tournament. Russia play a very offensive and high-pressure style of football.
Their sustained threat percentage is +67% above average and has them ranked second in the entire tournament, just behind Spain. This, unfortunately, opens them up to counter-attacks and more savvy opponents will punish any offensive blunders.

NETHERLANDS | 1.40 | 1.04 | 13.0 |
UKRAINE | 5.50 | 1.28 | 3.50 |
AUSTRIA | 6.50 | 1.40 | 2.75 |
NTH MACEDONIA | 21.0 | 3.50 | 1.28 |
The Netherlands are considered favorites to finish atop Group C. Their biggest opponents in this group will be Ukraine and Austria.
North Macedonia will also be competing in this group, but the bookmakers don’t really expect them to provide much competition, giving them 21,00 odds of winning the group and 3,50 of qualifying.
The Netherlands are one of the teams that like to dominate the ball and build offensive opportunities by patiently waiting for a mistake by their opponents. Their favorite weapon is the cross and they are above the tournament average in that category by 42%. On defense, they utilize the high press quite frequently and are one of the top teams in that regard.
The Netherlands are taking part in their 10th Euros, after failing to qualify for the last edition. They have the experience to handle the pressure this tournament brings. The Netherlands’ team is valued at 726,05 million euros, more than the rest of the teams in group C combined (569,48 total).
In contrast, Ukraine are taking part in their third UEFA European Championship, all appearances taking place in the last decade (2012, 2016, 2020). They have so far never made it out of the group stages.
After winning their first game at the European Championship, Ukraine have lost their last five. Only Yugoslavia have had a longer losing run in the history of the tournament (6 in a row). Ukraine have failed to score in their last five games at the European Championship, the longest goalless run in the history of the tournament. None of Ukraine’s last 67 shots have ended in the back of the net.
The Netherlands’ match against Austria promises to be an interesting fixture, with both teams playing a similar style of football.
However, Austria’s tempo and high press percentages are at +40% and +10%, compared to the Netherlands’ +89% and +67% respectively. Austria have scored only two goals in their six games at the European Championship; one of them was a penalty.
They have yet to reach the knockout stages or even win a game at the Euros. In fact, no team has played more games in the tournament (6) without winning one.

ENGLAND | 1.40 | 1.03 | 15.0 |
CROATIA | 4.0 | 2.20 | 3.40 |
CZECH REP | 13.0 | 1.80 | 1.90 |
SCOTLAND | 17.0 | 2.20 | 1.61 |
England are seen as the favorites to win Group D, with Croatia going through a tough spell. The other two teams competing for a spot in the knockout stage are the Czech Republic and Scotland.
England have a well-rounded and versatile team that can dominate the ball with slick passing, or wait for an opportunity on defense and strike with a quick counterattack.
England have never made the final of this tournament, and it seems this is their best year to try and go all the way.
England scored 4.6 goals per game in the Euro 2020 qualifying campaign (37 goals in 8 games), a higher ratio than any other team. Their highest-scoring matches were 7:0 and 6:0 victories over Montenegro and Bulgaria respectively.
England had the highest shot conversion rate in the qualifying stage, with 32,2%. For reference, Belgium is in second place with 19,2%. England’s team is valued at 1,47 billion euros, making them the most expensive team to enter the tournament.
The next closest favorite to win the group is Croatia at 4,00 odds. The 2018 World Cup runners-up have had a difficult run of late, and haven’t been playing their best football.
Croatia beat England in the World Cup semi-finals with a 2:1 result but were defeated with the same result in their most recent meet-up in November 2020.
In their last three matches, Croatia defeated Cyprus and Malta with a total result of 4:0, but their 1:0 loss to Slovenia is an indicator of how much this team has been struggling of late. They have a similar play style to the Netherlands and like to spend a lot of time setting up chances, but they scored 17 goals in the qualifying round to England’s 37.
The Czech Republic are third in line, and the bookmakers have them winning the group at 13,00 odds.
They have a defense-oriented team that likes to wait for an opportunity to steal the ball and go on the counter. Their tempo prevents them from realizing their potential on the counter, and they scored just 13 goals in the qualifying round.
54% of their goals in the Euro 2020 qualifying campaign came from set-pieces. They also conceded 11 goals in those matches, for a goal difference of just +2.

SWEDEN | 7.0 | 1.44 | 2.62 |
SLOVAKIA | 15.0 | 2.62 | 1.44 |
Group E will have the benefit of seeing Spain, Poland, Sweden and Slovakia fighting for dominance. Spain are viewed as the favorites to win the group at 1,33 odds. Poland are valued at 6,50, Sweden at 7,00 and Slovakia at 15,00 odds.
Spain have earned the status of the favorite to take the group, given how well they have been playing.
Spain have the highest percentage of sustained threat possessions, and they are +88% above average . They are also a very fast team and like to push the tempo, and pressure defenses deep in opposition territory.
Spain are also first in total shots per game and sixth in total goals scored with 31. Their defense only conceded 5 goals in 10 matches and dominated the ball with the highest possession average of 74,6%.
Their most notable performance is their 6:0 beatdown over Germany in November 2020 in the Nations League. Spain’s team is valued at 936 million euros, and they certainly back it up with their excellent performances.
Poland will challenge Spain for the top spot in Group E with Lewandowski spearheading their offensive effort.
Their playstyle is very defensive, and they like to use counterattacks to punish opponents who are sloppy with the ball. However, they are a significantly slower team than Spain, and their lack of speed won’t be able to handle Spain’s fast-paced style.
Sweden is the third contender of Group E, and they will have to make do without the attacking prowess of Zlatan Ibrahimovic. Sweden share a very similar playstyle with Poland, with a slightly higher tempo.
Sweden managed to pull out a 1:1 result against Spain in their most previous meeting, giving them some needed confidence ahead of this match-up.
That said, this was in October 2019, and Spain has been in much better form since. Sweden failed to make it out of the group stages in the last three European Championships.
They haven’t reached the knockout phase since 2004 when they were eliminated by the Netherlands on penalties.

PORTUGAL | 4.50 | 1.28 | 3.50 |
HUNGARY | 41.0 | 4.50 | 1.18 |
Group F will feature Germany, France, Portugal and Hungary battling for supremacy atop the group standings.
The bookmakers don’t see France as the favorites to win the group, giving Germany 2,25 odds of accomplishing this feat. France are the defending World Cup champions and have been playing consistently well in their recent matches.
They scored 25 goals in 10 qualifier matches and finished atop the Group H standings. The addition of Benzema to the squad will only improve their offensive potency. France’s defense also performed very well, only facing only 1,6 shots on target per match, the fewest of all teams.
France and Germany, have a very similar playstyle, with both teams dominating the ball and taking their time to create opportunities. However, France uses crosses at a much higher rate, with a crossing frequency +50% above average, compared to Germany’s +18%. France have defeated Germany in three of their last five encounters, with their other two match-ups ending in a draw.
Germany’s 6:0 defeat against Spain, along with their 1:2 defeat to Macedonia have raised concerns about the team’s defense.
The return of Hummels and Muller are meant to bolster their ranks, but it remains to be seen how the team will perform with these additions. Their 8:0 victory against Estonia and their 6:1 win against Northern Ireland back in 2019 have boosted their statistics and raised expectations. However, the team we have seen recently is not in the same form as two years ago.
France have the most expensive squad in the group, valued at 1,04 billion euros, followed by Germany at 964 million euros and Portugal at 829,5.
The third contender for Group F dominance is the defending Euro champion Portugal. Portugal played well in their qualifying matches to secure a place in the tournament.
They scored 22 goals and conceded 6 in their eight matches. However, they beat Lithuania in their two encounters with an aggregate result of 11:1, which significantly boosted their scoring statistics.
Portugal like to dominate the ball and create a lot of offensive opportunities. Their average possession percentage is 63%. Portugal attempted 22,4 shots per game and they are ranked third in that regard. However, their finishing has left a great deal to be desired, and they are not even in the top 10 in that category. Portugal like to use the high press frequently, and are atop the group in that regard. However, this tactic can backfire against teams that pass the ball well, and Germany and France are in the top four in passing accuracy, with 90,01% and 89,3% respectively.
