It’s the final of the 2021 European Championships as Italy take on England. The showpiece final of this month-long tournament will take place at Wembley Stadium and feature two exciting sides.
The Italians have had an excellent tournament. Winning is a habit for Roberto Mancini’s men and they’ve shown that throughout. The Azzurri topped Group A and got past Austria and Belgium to reach the semis. There they met Spain and got through on penalties in a match that went the distance.
England enjoyed an easier route to the final. Gareth Southgate’s men topped Group D and got past Germany and Ukraine to reach the semis. There they met Denmark at Wembley and got through after extra time. Harry Kane missed a late penalty but swept home the rebound to secure a 2-1 win.
That sets up this match. It’s a fixture that we’ve seen infrequently down the years. They’ve met three times in major tournaments. Italy won all three of their meetings including their only previous matchup at the Euros. That was in 2012 and the Italians won their quarter-final match on penalties.

It’s only the second time that England have reached the final of a major tournament. They won their only other final appearance back in the 1966 World Cup.
