Welcome to our England vs Belgium prediction, team news, lineups and fixtures preview with our expert Steve Wyss. Belgium endured a nightmare World Cup in Qatar but have enjoyed a strong rebound under the tenure of Domenico Todesco.

Prediction: England 3-1 Belgium

The Red Devils comfortably progressed to the Euro 2024 Championships dominating their qualifying group, much like England did. These two nations met in the 2018 World Cup and continue their preparations for the summer here at Wembley.

  1. England vs Belgium Tip 1: England to Win
  2. England vs Belgium Tip 2: Over 2.5 Goals
  3. England vs Belgium Tip 3: BTTS – Yes

England vs Belgium Prediction 1: England to raise their game to keep fans happy

Friendly International, Tuesday 26th March, 19:45 (UK)

This is a tricky international window for some of the bigger nations. Several of their best players might have their heads in the club game, and by this stage, there are likely to have been a few pull-outs for various different reasons. At the time of writing, we don’t know the result of the England vs Brazil match, but it would be typical for the Three Lions to rustle up an under-par display in their first friendly of an international window. There is often criticism, even if they win, about the style of play and the need for it to be more entertaining and attacking.

Gareth Southgate regularly likes to make a statement in the final game of an international window, and he will fire up his England team here. With home advantage they should have the edge against a decent Belgium team but one which should play into England’s hands. They can be quite open and with Southgate able to call upon a plethora of fresher players for this match then I think, at the prices, England simply to win the game might be worth a go.

  • England vs Belgium Prediction 1: England to Win (TRACKED BET)
  • Best Odds: 1.91
  • Bookmaker: Betfair
  • Stake: 7/10

England vs Belgium Prediction 2: Style of both teams should lead to an open game

This will probably either be a complete damp squib of a match or wide open and a great watch for the neutral. A lot depends on the mindset of the players and how they feel, but I think that it’s more likely to be a game containing goals when we consider the style of each team and the players on show. In the second half especially, we are likely to see a few newer faces come on the field who will be fresh and motivated to make an impact. With defences possibly weakened, it should open up the possibility for more chances.

Belgium have generally faced quite soft opponents since the World Cup last year, so they are tricky to judge. However, when they’ve played against anyone half decent, then the goals have flowed. They drew 1-1 vs Austria and also beat them 3-2. At the same stage of the year in 2023, the Red Devils prevailed 3-2 away in Germany.

Tedesco has a reputation for playing quite an open style, and he will also want to come to Wembley and make a statement. Over 2.5 goals looks like a decent price at 1.91. There’s always a danger that these friendlies can be a dire affair, but if it’s a decent match then that goal line looks too low.

  • England vs Belgium Prediction 2: Over 2.5 Goals (TRACKED BET)
  • Best Odds: 1.91
  • Bookmaker: Betfair
  • Stake: 7/10

England vs Belgium Prediction 3: Belgium firepower can contribute to the scoresheet

England are odds-on favourites to win the game but it’s unlikely they’ll get the victory without Belgium swinging hard. If there is an expectation that England will Win to Nil, then I’m surprised, but the odds of BTTS – Yes at 1.80 would imply that. This Belgium side packs plenty of firepower even without Kevin De Bruyne pulling the strings in midfield. With the likes of Trossard, Doku, and a red-hot Lois Openda upfront, the Three Lions will do well to keep a clean sheet.

Since Domenico Tedesco took charge of Belgium they have kept six clean sheets in ten games but against anyone remotely decent they’ve conceded goals. The likes of Austria (twice), Sweden & Germany have all scored against Belgium. With a home advantage, England should fancy its chances of causing plenty of problems. The price on BTTS – Yes is bigger than expected at 1.80 and looks well worth backing when you consider the attacking players on show.

  • England vs Belgium Prediction 3: BTTS – Yes (TRACKED BET)
  • Best Odds: 1.80
  • Bookmaker: Betfair
  • Stake: 7/10

England vs Belgium Team News and Possible Lineups: Saka ruled out for England

The England XI is very difficult to predict. A lot might depend on who got minutes against Brazil, and even then, it is tricky to work out who will get on Gareth Southgate’s starting sheet. This could be an opportunity for Anthony Gordon to get a start.

Bukayo Saka is definitely ruled out which opens up a spot out wide. Romelu Lukaku might return for Belgium here but similar to England a lot will depend on who plays against Ireland on Saturday.

England possible starting lineup: Pickford; Walker, Stones, Maguire, Chilwell; Rice, Bellingham, Foden; Rashford, Kane, Gordon

Belgium possible starting lineup: Sels; Castagne, Faes, Vertonghen, Theate; Tielemans, Mangala; Bakayoko, Trossard, Doku; Openda
