MK Dons vs Cheltenham: Accurate Archer
England, League Two, Saturday, November 16th, 15:00 (UK)
Gary Johnson came in for criticism for his management of Torquay United towards the end of his tenure, before a poor summer of recruitment as Cheltenham Director of Football.
However, the crown jewel of his signings was reuniting with Ethon Archer who Johnson signed in his Plainmoor spell.
This time last year, Archer was playing at Step Four of the Non-League pyramid while working as an Amazon Driver. Fast forward a year and he’s now a key player for League Two Cheltenham with five goals in 18 appearances.
A dismal start to the season saw Cheltenham manager Michael Flynn revert to a back four, leading to an upturn in form for the team. The 22-year-old has also increased his attacking output, scoring in his last three appearances in a more advanced role, as opposed to slightly deeper.
Archer is averaging 0.33 goals per 90 in League Two, so his price presents a lot of value for The Robins visit to Milton Keynes.
- Selection: Ethon Archer to score
- Best Odds: 7.00
- Bookmaker: bet365
- Stake: 3/10
Barrow vs AFC Wimbledon: Boring Bluebirds
England, League Two, Saturday, November 16, 15:00 (UK)
The two meanest defences in League Two face off at Holker Park as 11th place Barrow host 14th place AFC Wimbledon.
Despite finishing ninth and eighth in his two seasons at the club, Pete Wild was controversially dismissed as Bluebirds manager, with Stephen Clemence appointed as his replacement despite an underwhelming spell in charge of Gillingham.
The 46-year-old was lambasted for his previous side’s inability to score goals, and his Barrow squad is replicating this, scoring just 16 times in 15 games. However, The Bluebirds have conceded just 12 goals this season, boasting the second best defence in the league.
At home, they have the third best record in the league, accumulating 15 points, scoring 12 and conceding five goals in their eight games at Holker Park.
There has been a stark contrast between AFC Wimbledon’s home and away form, with the Wombles winning five of their six home games, but only picking up four points on their travels – the worst in the league.
Johnnie Jackson has become renowned for his pragmatism away from home, only scoring on three occasions. Facing a Barrow side who have blanked just once at home this season, The Dons may have to score at least once to get a result – something they have failed to do in four of their six away games.
- Selection: Barrow 0.0 Asian Handicap (TRACKED BET)
- Best Odds: 1.92
- Bookmaker: bet365
- Stake: 10/10
Bristol Rovers vs Crawley : Back Bristol Rovers to Win
England, League One, Saturday, November 16th , 15:00 (UK)
Bristol Rovers currently sit 16th in the league, five points clear of Saturday’s visitors and relegation threatened Crawley Town.
The Gas had a solid start to the season, picking up seven points from their opening four games, before four losses on the bounce had Matt Taylor on the brink of the sack. Back-to-back wins against Charlton (3-2) and Burton (1-3) bided the 42-year-old some much needed time. They have since picked up four points from the next four.
At home, Rovers have been strong, picking up 13 points from seven games. They face a Crawley side with just four points on their travels, losing five from seven.
After an unexpected promotion to League One, Crawley’s playing and coaching staff was dismantled by bigger teams, leaving the Red Devils in the lurch. Now under new management and a whole new starting XI, the Sussex side are struggling to adapt in League One and have picked up just six points from their last 13 games.
On their travels, Crawley have scored just three goals and conceded 11 and face a tough trip to a strong Bristol Rovers side.
- Selection: Bristol Rovers to Win (TRACKED BET)
- Best Odds: 1.90
- Bookmaker: bet365
- Stake: 10/10
