Barnsley vs Peterborough Prediction: Probation vs Posh
England, League One, Monday, April 21st, 15:00 (UK)
Barnsley can’t go down and can’t make the playoffs. Peterborough are all but safe. This is as a dead rubber game as you could possibly get, but it has the makings of a classic for the neutrals.
The Tykes made the decision to dismiss Darrell Clarke in March and appoint fan favourite Conor Hourihane as the new manager until the end of the season. The last few games of the season have been seen as a ‘probation’ period for the 34-year-old who recorded his first victory in six attempts by demolishing Bolton 6-1. The switch to a formation with wingers proved successful, with Stephen Humphries impressing, while teenage sensation Fabio Jalo shone with a brace.
In all six games under the Irishman, both teams to score has landed, with BTTS landing in a league high 28/42 games for Barnsley this season. Hourihane will see the final four games as his audition, so attacking football to get the fans on board is expected.
Peterborough have fell well below expectations this season and are sit in 16th place, having conceded the second most goals in the league. As is typical with a Posh side, they have scored 62 goals, a record bettered by only five teams. Darren Ferguson’s side could’ve perhaps scored more this campaign had Kwame Poku not suffered an injury in December. The 23-year-old is crucial to his sides attacking impetus, averaging 0.92 goal contributions per 90. Over 2.5 goals has landed in the last five Peterborough games and a league high 14/20 away games. BTTS has clicked in 27/41 games- the second most in the league behind Monday’s hosts Barnsley.

Stockport vs Huddersfield Prediction: Hatters to grab a hatful
England, League One, Monday, April 21st, 15:00 (UK)
The strength of last season’s League 2 has been epitomised this season with Wrexham and Stockport gunning for promotion in League One. Heading into the Easter weekend, Stockport have the playoffs all but secured and sit five points off the automatic spots, so will be going for the jugular to end the season.
Prior to Friday’s clash with Peterborough, The Hatters had won four games in a row with their only loss in nine coming away at Wrexham. David Challinor has cultivated a strong squad. In defence, Ibou Touray, Ethan Pye and Fraser Horsfall have been mainstays when fit while Brad Hills has impressed in his 12 appearances on loan from Norwich. Owen Moxon and Ollie Norwood provide excellent technical prowess in midfield, while the front four of Jayden Fevrier, Jack Diamond, Isaac Olaofe and Kyle Wooton has the perfect blend of skill and power to cause any defences issues.
Edgeley Park has become a fortress for the Hatters this season. They have won seven of the last eight games in front of their games, taking 46 points from a possible 21.
Prior to Friday’s clash with Mansfield, Huddersfield had lost four of their last five and six of their last eight, with their only victories coming at home to Crawley and Mansfield. The Terriers have slipped out of playoff contention and now sit five points off the top six at the time of writing. Interim manager Jonathan Worthington has failed to get a tune out of the squad, losing the four away games without scoring.
- Stockport vs Huddersfield Prediction: Stockport to Win
- Best Odds: 1.90
- Bookmaker: bet365
- Stakes: 10/10
Cambridge vs Leyton Orient Prediction: Charlie and his Goalscoring Factory
England, League One, Saturday, April 21st, 15:00 (UK)
All the noise around the League One golden boot race has been about Jay Stansfield of Birmingham and Richard Kone of Wycombe. Ever since Louis Barry was recalled to parent club Aston Villa, the pair have been battling hammer and tong for the top scorer award. However, Charlie Kelman has gone under the radar and now tops the charts.
Seven goals in five starts has seen the 23-year-old pip Stansfield and Kone to the top of the list on 19 goals. The on-loan talisman is averaging 0.56 goals per 90 this season from 1.35 shots on target per 90. Cambridge could be relegated before this game has even started. The U’s have conceded 66 goals this year, keeping just seven clean sheets this season.
- Cambridge vs Leyton Orient : Charlie Kelman To Score
- Best Odds: 3.00
- Bookmaker: bet365
- Stakes: 10/10 (TRACKED BET)
