Transfer expert Di Marzio sees PSG as viable destination for Osimhen
Victor Osimhen is one of the most in-demand strikers linked with clubs based in the Premier League, Ligue 1, La Liga and more.
We sat down with renowned transfer expert Gianluca Di Marzio who provided us with updates on Osimhen’s potential destinations.
PSG is the most viable option despite contact from Arsenal and Chelsea
Di Marzio sees Paris Saint-Germain as the most viable option for Victor Osimhen despite the Nigerian striker having had contact from Arsenal and Chelsea.
Osimhen was heavily linked to Chelsea but Di Marzio explains that Enzo Maresca prefers Samu Omorodion.
“In Europe, at the moment, only PSG is focused on Osimhen. He’s the top choice of the coach.”
“Chelsea had minimal interest some weeks back but Enzo Maresca prefers another type of striker. His first choice is Samu Omorodion but it’s difficult that he’ll leave Atletico Madrid after Alvaro Morata has already left.”
“Chelsea, no. Arsenal, yes, they’ve had some contact but nothing concrete at the moment.
Di Marzio adds that PSG sporting director Lucas Campos’ personal relationship with Osimhen could play a big role in bringing him to the French capital.
“PSG could be the only European side that’s a viable destination for Victor Osimhen. Luis Campos, PSG’s sporting director, had him at Lille and sold him to Napoli, knows him very well. Victor likes him.”
Osimhen deal depends on two factors
Di Marzio then outlines the two factors that can heavily influence the Osimhen deal. The first is PSG selling Kolo Muani to make space for Osimhen and the other is finding the right player to add to the deal to convince Napoli.
“This deal depends on two situations. PSG have to sell Kolo Muani because they already have two strikers in him and Goncalo Ramos. So they need to sell Kolo Muani. Atletico Madrid are interested, so we will see.”
“They want to put a player in the deal with Napoli. They talked about Mukiele, they talked about Soler, they talked about Lee Kang-in because Napoli would like to have him.”
Di Marzio adds that Saudi Arabia could become an option but Osimhen prefers to stay in Europe and play in the Champions League. Another deal that is dependent on Osimhen leaving Napoli is Romelu Lukaku moving to the Naples based club.
“So it’s not really advanced but it’s the only situation that can become stronger for Osimhen. Saudi Arabia is also an option but the player, at this moment, prefers to stay in Europe and try to play in the Champions League.”
“If PSG are unable to get him, I don’t know if he would change his idea and think about Saudi Arabia in the next 20 days.”
“Napoli have Romelu Lukaku in their hands but they cannot get him because they have to sell Osimhen. So everything is linked. If Osimhen leaves, Lukaku will join Napoli and Antonio Conte.”
