Crystal Palace vs Luton Prediction: Team News and Lineups Preview
We bring you our Crystal Palace vs Luton prediction, team news, lineups and fixtures preview courtesy of Scott Thornton.
Eight Premier League points separate these sides heading into this match but the visitors have a game in hand. Luton are currently 18th in the table but they can close the gap to safety to just one point if they can win at Selhurst Park. The Hatters earned a 2-1 win over Crystal Palace earlier this season thanks to a late goal from Jacob Brown.
Our Crystal Palace prediction is for Crystal Palace to win the match 3-2.

Crystal Palace vs Luton Tip 1: Palace to Secure Crucial Win
England, Premier League, Saturday, March 9th, 15:00 (UK)
No one can deny that Luton are battling hard against relegation, but we have reached the season stage where it’s points over performances. Rob Edwards’s side have lost their last six matches across all competitions and are without a win in seven. Their previous victory came against Brighton on the 30th of January, so I’m baking the Eagles to come out on top here.
Crystal Palace were comprehensively beaten in their last match against Tottenham. However, they did manage a 3-0 victory in Oiver Glasner’s only home game in charge thus far. That victory came against Burnley, another of the newly-promoted sides. Despite the better end to Hodgson’s second stint at the club, Palace have lost just one of their last six games at Selhurst Park.
A win for Luton would drag Palace right into the thick of the relegation battle but the Hatters have a poor away record in the Premier League. They have lost seven of their 12 league matches on the road and conceded 2.42 goals per game in the process.

- Best Odds: 1.72

Crystal Palace vs Luton Tip 2: Chances at Both Ends
The next of our betting angles for this match is for both teams to score in the match. This bet landed when the sides went head-to-head at Kenilworth Road in November as Luton ran out 2-1 victors.
Crystal Palace’s recent matches have been goal-friendly. They have had seven Premier League outings in 2024, and those have seen an average of four goals. Both teams have found the net in five of those matches. The Eagles scored with their only shot on target away at Tottenham. Oliver Glasner will be hoping they are just as clinical when afforded more of the ball.
Both teams have found the net in Luton’s last six matches in all competitions. There has been an average of 5.5 goals per game during that run. Luton have contributed with 1.83 of those, but their opponents have scored an average of 3.67. With the team unable to rely on keeping it tight at the back, they will have to commit bodies forward here.

- Best Odds: 1.80
- Bookmaker: bet365
- Stake: 8/10
Crystal Palace vs Luton Tip 3: Eze is a Huge Boost
Eberechi Eze‘s return for Crystal Palace in their last match was a huge boost and could be a crucial factor in them avoiding the drop. The Eagles are a far better team with Eze and Michael Olise in the starting eleven so Glasner will be delighted to have one of them available.
Eze scored a brace in the 3-2 win over Sheffield United at the end of January. He was taken off injured at the 77th-minute mark in that game. He hasn’t lost any of his potency in the month-long layoff. He gave Palace the lead with an expertly placed free-kick against Tottenham. The wide player is likely to get more opportunities to conjure up that sort of magic when his side host Luton.
The Englishman has scored six Premier League goals in 17 appearances this season. His non-penalty xG of 0.41 per 90 minutes played puts him in the 92nd percentile when compared with other attacking midfielders and wingers across Europe’s top five leagues.
The winger looked lively in the reverse fixture against Luton and managed two shots on target before being brought off injured just after the break. I’m backing him to go one better in the meeting at Selhurst Park and find the back of the net.
- Crystal Palace vs Luton Tip 3: Eberechi Eze To Score
- Best Odds: 3.25
- Bookmaker: bet365
- Stake: 5/10

Crystal Palace vs Luton Team News and Possible Lineups: Not so Marvellous
Oliver Glasner is without a few key players for this one. Marc Guehi, Rob Holding and Cheick Doucoure have all been ruled out. Michel Olise remains sidelined after being ruled out for a lengthy period in early February. Palace will hope to have him back sooner rather than later. Jordan Ayew suffered a hip injury against Tottenham but the manager insisted it wasn’t serious.
Luton have injury concerns of their own. Marvelous Nakamba and Mads Juel Andersen are ruled out of this one. Elijah Adebayo and Jacob Brown also seem likely to return. It’s unclear whether Tom Lockyer will continue to play following him going into cardiac arrest against Bournemouth.
Crystal Palace possible starting lineup: Johnstone; Mitchell, Richards, Andersen, Ward, Munoz; Lerma, Wharton Edouard; Mateta
Luton possible starting lineup: Kaminski; Doughty, Ogbene, Mengi, Burke, Kabore; Clark, Barkley, Mpanzu, Townsend; Morris

Match OPTA Stats: The Glasner effect
- Crystal Palace have won three of their last four Premier League games at Selhurst Park (L1), as many as their previous 13 beforehand (D5 L5). The Eagles have scored exactly three goals in each of those three wins, after having only scored 3+ goals in three of their previous 31 home league matches prior to this.
- Only the current top three sides Liverpool (24), Manchester City (15) and Arsenal (15) have scored more goals in the final 15 minutes of Premier League games this season than Luton (14), with 38% of their overall strikes coming after the 75th minute. Meanwhile, Crystal Palace have conceded more often in this timeframe than any other side (20).
- Having beaten Burnley 3-0 in his first match in charge at Selhurst Park, Oliver Glasner is looking to become just the second manager to win both of his first two Premier League home games with Crystal Palace, after Tony Pulis in December 2013.
- Crystal Palace’s Eberechi Eze has scored four goals in his last four Premier League games, while he has eight in his last 10 appearances at Selhurst Park stretching back to last April.
