With just 90 minutes left in the Champions League league phase, the new format has delivered increased excitement and crucial final-day fixtures. Only two games—Sturm Graz vs. RB Leipzig and Young Boys vs. Red Star Belgrade—have no qualification stakes, while 24 out of 26 teams are still fighting for their place in the knockout rounds. With so many teams tied on points, goal difference could prove decisive in determining the final standings.

Key Qualification Scenarios

Aside from Liverpool, Barcelona, and Arsenal, who have already secured a top-eight finish, 14 teams are still in the race for the remaining five automatic qualification spots. This sets up a thrilling night of shifting scenarios and crucial results.

One of the biggest fixtures is Manchester City vs. Club Brugge, where the losing side risks elimination. AC Milan also face a potential drop out of the top eight if they fail to beat Dinamo Zagreb. Meanwhile, Stuttgart vs. PSG could see both sides qualify with a draw, although results elsewhere could alter their fate. A defeat for either team, however, would almost certainly spell elimination.

Manchester City vs. Club Brugge: A Must-Win for Pep’s Men?

According to our in-house projections, Manchester City have an 80% chance of making the play-offs, with a strong likelihood of beating Club Brugge at home. However, Brugge, with 11 points and a 92% chance of progressing, will look to avoid defeat. Their -2 goal difference and poor attacking output—just six goals in the tournament—suggest a low-scoring affair.

Betting Tip: Manchester City to win to nil or a victory with under 4.5 goals seems a solid option, given Brugge’s struggles in front of goal.

Dinamo Zagreb vs. AC Milan: A Tall Order for the Hosts

Dinamo Zagreb, led by Italian legend Fabio Cannavaro, must beat AC Milan to stand a chance of qualifying. Their -8 goal difference means they also need favourable results elsewhere. Our projection tool gives them just a 6.8% chance of progressing, compared to AC Milan’s strong position.

Milan, currently holding a +4 goal difference, cannot afford to slip up, as Bayer Leverkusen, Borussia Dortmund, and Bayern Munich—all with easier fixtures—could overtake them.

Betting Tip: A Milan win and over 1.5 goals appears to be the smart bet, with the Rossoneri’s attacking edge likely to shine through.

Stuttgart vs. PSG: Playing for a Point?

PSG’s trip to Stuttgart is expected to be a closely fought contest, with a 23.3% chance of ending in a draw, according to projections. A draw could see both sides progress, provided Dinamo Zagreb do not pull off an upset against AC Milan. With a goal difference of +2, PSG are almost assured of advancing, with an 87.4% probability, while Stuttgart sit at 55.2%.

Betting Tip: Both teams to score (BTTS – Yes) seems like the most promising bet, with both sides averaging 1.85 expected goals in the competition.
