Salzburg vs Bayern Munich Best Bet
I don’t hold out much hope for Salzburg here. They welcome a team that I think will go all the way in this competition, Bayern Munich. Julian Nagelsmann’s side have enjoyed a near-faultless Champions League campaign thus far. They won all six matches thus far, scoring 22 goals in the process. A victory in this one and they’ll become only the fourth team to win each of their first seven matches in a Champions League campaign.
They face FC Salzburg. It’s the first time that the Austrian club has played in the knockout stage of the Champions League. Their record against German opposition doesn’t make for good reading. Salzburg have won only one of their last six games against sides from Germany. They conceded an average of three goals in each of those games.
That doesn’t bode well against this free-scoring Bayern team. The Bavarians have won 25 of their last 27 matches in the Champions League. That’s an unbelievable level of consistency across three seasons and three different managers. I think they’ll get another one here by a comfortable scoreline. I’m going for Bayern -1.75 at 2.20.

Inter vs Liverpool Best Bet
One of the standout ties in the round of 16 sees Inter take on Liverpool. Incredibly, the Italian champions are playing in their first Champions League knockout tie since 2011/12. They lost on away goals to Marseille that time but have an even trickier test this time around. Goals have been an issue for the. All six of Inter’s matches were tight and the result is that they had an average of 2.17 goals per game, the second-lowest of all qualifying sides.
Liverpool have been one of the most consistent sides in the Champions League over the last five years. Jurgen Klopp’s men have made it to the knockout stages in each of the last five seasons but progression has been trickier of late. They’ve only won one of their last three knockout ties since lifting the title in 2019. Real Madrid got the better of them last campaign and Atletico Madrid did the same a year before that. A lot has changed since then and this full-strength Reds outfit looks set to impress.
Liverpool won all six group matches this campaign. They’re the first English side to achieve this feat. Manager Jurgen Klopp is one win away from becoming only the eighth manager to win 50 Champions League matches. He’ll get it soon enough but it may not be here. I can see a tight match here. I’m going for under 2.25 goals at a tempting price of 2.50.
