Lille vs Chelsea Best Bet

Chelsea take a two-goal lead to France to take on Lille. The Blues have the advantage heading into the match but have struggled against French opposition in the past. Before this tie, the blues had won only three of their previous ten matches against sides from France.
They’ll be glad to have the advantage from the first leg. The Blues have progressed from nine of the last knockout ties in the Champions League after winning the first leg. A strong defence has helped Thomas Tuchel’s side in Europe. Chelsea have kept 10 clean sheets in 14 Champions League matches under Tuchel. It’s equalled a Champions League record for a manager to keep 10 clean sheets in the fewest number of matches with a new club.
Lille have struggled at home in this competition. They’ve won only four of their last 22 Champions League home fixtures. They have a better record against English sides. Lille have only lost one of their six previous matches at home against English teams. That was against Manchester United back in 2007.
I can see a low-scoring match here. Chelsea’s two-goal advantage should be enough to take them into the quarter-finals of this competition. Lille didn’t show much offensive threat in the first leg so another clean sheet for Tuchel’s Chelsea looks likely. I’m going for under 2.25 goals with a 1-0 or 2-0 victory likely for the visitors.

Juventus vs Villarreal Best Bet

The tie is in the balance as Juventus host Villarreal in Turin. It’s 1-1 after that match at El Madrigal last month. The Yellow Submarine dominated but Dusan Vlahovic very nearly won the tie single-handedly for Max Allegri’s men.
It extended Juventus’ poor recent record in this competition. They’ve now failed to win the first leg in any of their last seven Champions League knockout ties. They’ve been eliminated in four of the last five. Le Zebre have won only two of their last six Champions League knockout matches at home. They were still eliminated from the tie despite winning one of those matches.
Villarreal have historically struggled on the road in Europe but have improved of late. They’ve won seven and drawn two of their 10 European away matches under Unai Emery. The sole defeat came at Old Trafford in the group stage this season.
I think an upset is on the cards here. I’ve backed Villarreal for some time and see them as a side flying under the radar in the Champions League this season. It’s a very winnable match for Unai Emery’s men, especially after that dominant first-leg match. Villarreal plus a small handicap is my pick for this one.
