Chelsea vs Real Madrid Best Bet

Wed, April 6th, 20:00 (UK Time)

The current Champions League holders host Spanish giants Real Madrid on Wednesday night at Stamford Bridge.

Thomas Tuchel’s men arrive into this game after a 4-1 hammering from fellow London club Brentford on Saturday afternoon. Los Blancos extended the lead at the top of La Liga to twelve points after a Karim Benzema brace was enough to walk away with a win in Vigo.

The odds suggest the hosts are favourites but at odds against, with a best price of 2.10 being on offer. Goals are not expected to be a familiar sight in the capital, a similar price is being offered for over 2.50 match goals.

Real Madrid set up very defensively in the previous round away leg when they clashed with PSG at the Parc des Princes. Carlo Ancelotti’s men failed to register a single shot on goal with Thibaut Courtois being forced to make seven saves in the defeat. The removal of the away goal rule may lead to the visitors shutting up shop.

Tuchel’s men also faced a French club in Lille, who are the current champions of Ligue 1, however, have certainly not lived up to last season’s success. Chelsea won 4-1 on aggregate against Jocelyn Gourvennec’s side.

The hosts have yet to see both teams score in all four of their Champions League home games this campaign. This can also be said about the 12-time winners in their away matches, which is why I’m willing to back against both teams scoring in London.

Both sides rank first when it comes to clean sheets in the competition with just five goals being conceded this campaign with an average of 0.63 goals against.

Chelsea have proved to be rigged in defence when it comes to the higher-profile games. In 2022 they played the current Premier League top five a combined six times in all competitions, with both sides having scored just once.

Real Madrid may set up in a similar way come Wednesday night like they did in Paris, sitting deep and welcoming the attacking waves. The Blues are a far more solid outfit than PSG so the price of 2.00 for at least one team to shut another out certainly catches the eye.

  • Selection: Both Teams to Score – No
  • Best Odds: 2.00 (BetVictor)
  • Stakes: 7/10

Villarreal vs Bayern Munich Best Bet

Wed, April 6th, 20:00 (UK Time)

This will be the third time Villarreal and Bayern Munich have faced each other. The first was back in the 2011/2012 campaign when the German side beat the Spaniards both home and away in the Champions League group stage.

The ’Yellow Submarine’ dumped out Juventus in the previous round whilst the German giants hit RB Salzburg for seven at the Allianz. Unai Emery’s men are best priced at 5.50 for the win here whilst Julian Nagelsmann’s goal-getting squad are strong favourites for the win at 1.61.

Remarkably, Bayern have scored in all of the last 30 Champions League games they’ve featured in, scoring 101 goals in total which won’t go down well with the Spanish side. Villarreal have won just once in their previous 10 home encounters in the competition which came against Swiss outfit Young Boys in the group stage in November.

It’s worth noting the time frame of the visitors’ goals so far in this competition. From their 30 goals in total, nine have come between the 76th minute and full time. Over half of the goals the Spanish side have conceded have come in that same time slot with six of ten arriving late on.

Backing against a Bayern side who are capable of scoring goals from all areas of the pitch is difficult. Robert Lewandoski as we all know is a terrific goal scorer, he’s bagged 12 so far this campaign. Serge Gnabry, Leroy Sane, Kingsley Coman and Thomas Muller have all chipped in multiple times also.

With the stats and figures at hand, I’m edging towards a ‘Bet Builder’ approach for this clash on Wednesday night which is all about the goal market. Across the eight matches in this competition so far the Germans have scored twice or more seven times with a goal also coming after the break seven times too.

William Hill are offering odds of 1.80 for the visitors to accomplish this at the Estadio de la Ceramica which seems reasonable enough for me. With plenty of attacking threats, the Spanish side can quite easily have a tricky night ahead of them.

  • Selection: Bayern Over 1.50 Match Goals / Bayern Over 0.50 Second Half Goals
  • Best Odds: 1.80 (William Hill)
  • Stakes: 8/10

WHAT IS A CHAMPIONS LEAGUE ACCA?

A Champions League acca is an accumulator bet, a type of wager that is made up of several different selections combined together into a single bet. A Champions League acca would usually consist of a single bet made up of four or more selections on Champions League matches.

The Champions League acca is a popular way to bet on European football matches. As more selections are added to the bet, the odds rapidly increase as all are multiplied together. This can lead to massive odds for a small stake if building an acca for a Champions League match.

As is the same with double and treble bets, all selections need to win or the accumulator loses. That is why so many look for Champions League acca tips for guidance.
