Champions League Best Bets: Tuesday April 5th
We’re back with more Champions League best bets this Tuesday. The quarter-finals are upon us with just four matches standing between these teams and a place in the final. The first of these two-legged quarter-finals kicks off on Tuesday with two of the favourites in action.
Man City host Atletico Madrid who return to Manchester fresh after knocking out City’s neighbours. Liverpool head to Benfica for what they’ll see as a winnable draw. The Portuguese team will thrive on their underdog status after beating Ajax in the round of 16.

Benfica vs Liverpool Best Bet
Tue, April 5th, 20:00 (UK Time)
Liverpool have been handed a favourable tie in the Champions League. Manager Jurgen Klopp will be keen to ensure complacency doesn’t become an issue for his team’s trip to Portugal.
Klopp’s men survived a scare in the Round of 16, as Inter Milan rocked up to Anfield and secured the victory on the night. Liverpool’s 2-0 win in the away leg in Italy was enough to see them progress, and they will be looking to replicate that performance when they take on Benfica.
Benfica caused a slight upset in the last round. The Portuguese side remained resolute as they secured a memorable win in Amsterdam. Ajax were on the front foot for the majority but Benfica grabbed the only goal of the game with their only shot on target in the game.
Nelson Verissimo’s side will have to show similar defensive qualities and then some to navigate their way past a rampant Liverpool and their group stage encounters with Bayern will be a concern in that regard. Bayern found the net nine times over the course of 2 matches, and Liverpool are equally as capable going forward as the German Champions.
Liverpool have found the net at least twice in all of their Champions League away matches this season and they have faced some strong opposition. Salah and co. found the net a whopping five times when they faced Porto in the group stages. Porto currently sit 12 points ahead of Benfica in the domestic league, so there are worrying signs for the home side coming into this clash.
Interestingly, Liverpool have only kept one clean sheet away from home in the competition so far. Benfica will know they need to get something from this game to have any hopes of progressing to the next round and they have scored in 14 of their last 15 games at home in European competition. For that reason, I’m happy to back Benfica to get on the scoresheet before Liverpool’s quality shines through.
- Selection: Liverpool To Win & BTTS
- Odds: 2.90 (888Sport)
- Stakes: 7/10

Man City vs Atletico Madrid Best Bet
Tue, April 5th, 20:00 (UK Time)
Man City have been all-conquering domestically for a number of years, but European glory has proven to be elusive so far. The bookies see the English teams as a cut above the rest in the Champions League this season. Many expect tournament favourites Manchester City to convert their domestic dominance into a long-awaited European trophy.
Atletico Madrid put in a typically solid display to overcome Manchester United in the last round. Simeone’s men used all of their defensive nous to stifle Ragnick’s side, but executing the same game plan against Guardiola’s City is a completely different task.
City eased past Sporting Lisbon to get to this stage. Guardiola’s men scored 5 times away from home before playing out a 0-0 draw at the Etihad.
Despite the formidable task in front of them, there is hope for Atleti. The team have improved of late and are currently on a run of 6 consecutive wins. City are also embroiled in a gruelling battle for the title with Liverpool. The two teams face each other this weekend in what is already being billed as a title decider.
The Spanish side will know that they need to be in the tie come the second leg where they have the home advantage, and I can see them offering very little going forward in order to remain defensively solid.
As a result, Man City should rack up the corners as they strive to break the deadlock. Pep’s side have had seven corners in their last three home games in this competition and that should continue here.
Simeone’s team faced Liverpool in the group stages and were unable to find the net during the away fixture. City and Liverpool are one and two in the betting to win this competition, and I can see Atleti struggling to get on the scoresheet in a similar fashion here.
- Selection: Man City Over 6 Corners & BTTS No
- Odds: 3.20 (bet365)
- Stake: 6/10

WHAT IS A CHAMPIONS LEAGUE ACCA?
A Champions League acca is an accumulator bet, a type of wager that is made up of several different selections combined together into a single bet. A Champions League acca would usually consist of a single bet made up of four or more selections on Champions League matches.
The Champions League acca is a popular way to bet on European football matches. As more selections are added to the bet, the odds rapidly increase as all are multiplied together. This can lead to massive odds for a small stake if building an acca for a Champions League match.
As is the same with double and treble bets, all selections need to win or the accumulator loses. That is why so many look for Champions League acca tips for guidance.
