Werder Bremen vs Borussia Monchengladbach: Gladbach Remain Shaky
Germany, Bundesliga, Saturday, 4th May, 14:30 (UK)
Werder Bremen are safe with three games to play. They are 11th in the league, nine points above the relegation playoff place, but with a vastly superior goal difference. They’re chasing three consecutive wins here after picking up all three points against Augsburg and Stuttgart.
Borussia Monchengladbach still have work to do. There are two sides between themselves and the relegation zone. Gerardo Seoane’s men are four points above the dreaded relegation playoff and could guarantee their safety this weekend. They played out a 0-0 draw against Union Berlin in their last match.
Bremen don’t rank well in Germany for their shooting stats but they are capable of having more than their fair share here. There is no pressure on them coming into this clash so let’s hope they let fly against a side that are affording their opponents plenty of opportunities.
Monchengladbach are conceding an average of 16.94 shots per game this campaign. Only Hoffenheim are conceding more shots in the Bundesliga. Their opponents shot count rises to an average of 19.6 per game if we only include the data from their matches on the road so Bremen should be capable of hitting a decent number here.
- Selection: Over 14.5 Shots For Werder Bremen (TRACKED BET)
- Best Odds: 1.80
- Bookmaker: bet365
- Stake: 7/10
Koln vs Freiburg: The Smell of Relegation Lingers for Cologne
Germany, Bundesliga, Saturday, 4th May, 17:30 (UK)
This is a huge match for Koln. They come into the weekend five points behind Mainz, who currently occupy the relegation playoff place. They could only manage a 1-1 draw with the side just above them last weekend. Timo Schultz’s side lost their last home game 2-0 against Darmstadt.
Freiburg are 7th in the Bundesliga. That is likely to be enough to earn them a place in the Europa Conference League, so they will be looking to keep their noses in front of Augsburg. They were beaten at home by Wolfsburg last weekend but have managed to win their last three on the road.
It’s a must-win for Koln, so we are counting on them getting a few shots here. They had 19 shots in their last match in front of their own fans. Schultz’s men are the underdogs and should rack up a decent shot tally should they fall behind.
Christian Steich’s side have conceded 17 or more shots in their lat five away matches in the league. Their opponents are averaging 19.2 attempts over that period. Koln had 19 shots the last time Frieburg came to this stadium.
- Selection: Over 16.5 Shots For Koln (TRACKED BET)
- Best Odds: 1.83
- Bookmaker: bet365
- Stake: 8/10
Union Berlin vs Bochum: End-to-End Clash Near the Bottom
Germany, Bundesliga, Sunday, 5th May, 14:30 (UK)
These sides are level with a total of 30 points apiece coming into this one. This match gives both the opportunity to pull away from the relegation playoff before Mainz kicks off later on. Bochum won the reverse fixture 3-0 but it is Union Berlin who have home advantage this time around.
Bochum have picked up just seven points from their 15 away matches in the Bundesliga this season. They have lost seven of their last eight on the road so it’s safe to say confidence is pretty low. Thomas Letsch’s side did manage to beat Hoffenheim last weekend but that game was in front of their own supporters.
With the stakes being so high, we are backing over 26.5 shots in this one. There were 31 shots when they went toe-to-toe in December. Union Berlin’s most recent home match saw 34 shots. Nenad Bjelica’s side were able to contribute with 15 shots in that one despite facing Bayern Munich.
Bochum’s league matches this campaign have seen 30.55 shots on average. There were 46 attempts in their win over Hoffenheim last weekend and the shot count could soar once again.
- Selection: Over 26.5 Shots In The Match (TRACKED BET)
- Best Odds: 1.83
- Bookmaker: bet365
- Stake: 8/10
