Premier League Darts Best Bets: Night 13, May 5th
James Wade doubled up in Dublin last week as he won his second Premier League night of 2022 with a dramatic 6-5 victory over Jonny Clayton.
The Englishman produced some of the best darts of his career, seeing of Michael van Gerwen in his opener before setting a record average of 114.73 in his semi-final victory over Gerwyn Price.
His night was capped off with a brilliant comeback against The Ferret in the final, moving him level on points with MVG and just four points off table-topper Clayton.
This week the competition travels to Glasgow and I’m expecting a heavyweight clash between two Scots as they battle it out in their own back yard.
It would be fair to say Peter Wright and Gary Anderson have had contrasting fortunes in this years Premier League, with Anderson rooted to the foot of the table with just four victories to his name.
And although The Flying Scotsman now sits 13 points behind his compatriot, all four of the pairs encounters this season have been blockbuster affairs with plenty of 180s and a host of ton plus checkouts.
This is highlighted by the 25 180’s (4,8,8,5) hit from their four matches and proves that however close their friendship is off the stage, they still remain fierce rivals on it.
The pair are also no stranger to the outer ring with Snakebite hitting a showpiece 156 in Birmingham with Anderson firing back with a 132 of his own, and again in Belfast both nailing a checkout above 120 when facing off.
Final scores of 6-5, 3-6, 6-4, 6-5 also suggest that even though both have been in differing form, the head-to-head usually produces a close result.
A look at the ‘Match Action’ market on Sky Bet is therefore my best bet of night 13, and although odds of 5.50 and 26.00 for the higher lines look tempting, Anderson’s recent slump in form has kept me on the lowest line.
- Selection: Peter Wright vs Gary Anderson – Match Action (Over 8.5 legs, highest checkout over 100.5 and over 4.5 180s)
- Best Odds: 2.38 (Sky Bet)
- Stake: 7/10
