Gujarat Titans vs Punjab Kings Best Bet: Tuesday May 3rd
Gujarat Titans vs Punjab Kings IPL Best Bet
Tuesday May 3rd, 3pm (UK time)
Gujarat Titans are currently enjoying the best nine-game start to a season in IPL history and will look to stretch this record with victory over the Punjab Kings at the DY Patil Stadium.
With five wins coming in the 20th over of chases, the Titans have relied heavily on ‘Iceman’ Rahul Tewatia, who has continued to defy logic with a host of seemingly nonchalant cameos under intense pressure.
The Punjab Kings on the other hand have struggled to find consistency in their high-risk-high-reward batting approach, which has wielded five scores of 180+, but conversely led to recent totals of 133 and 115.
However, a top five of Mayank Agarwal, Shikhar Dhawan, Jonny Bairstow, Liam Livingstone and Bhanuka Rajaspaksa is potentially the most explosive in the IPL and has the talent to progress them back into the play-off spots.
More Gujarat Titans vs Punjab Kings betting tips
I’m backing this quintet to meet fire with fire against the superb Titans bowling unit and strike the most sixes in the encounter.
This six-hitting ability the Kings possess has resulted in the side crashing an average of 7.78 maximums per innings, with only Rajasthan Royals hitting more.
Their total of 70 sixes this season is 21 more than Gujarat have managed, and Gujarat have only hit more sixes than their opponents in one IPL match this season.
I’m not wholly convinced that the Titan’s recent escapology with the bat is sustainable, and I think their middle order, although currently performing, still has its fallibilities.
Also, the Kings have enjoyed the wickets produced at the DY Patil Stadium this season, hitting a staggering 14 sixes against RCB in their opening match here, and a further seven in their most recent appearance at the ground – winning the sixes market on both occasions.
If the Titans are put into bat first, betting on them in play to hit under 6.5 sixes would also be a noteworthy bet.
On the four occasions batting first this season, they have failed to reach this total in three attempts, and average just 5.4 sixes per game across the season.
- Selection: Punjab Kings – Team to hit most sixes
