UConn Huskies vs Alabama Crimson Tide Prediction, Picks, Odds, News, Injury Report for 4/6/24
The UConn Huskies are two wins away from earning back-to-back National titles, and they will now face the Alabama Crimson Tide at the Final Four of the NCAA Men’s Basketball Tournament. The Huskies have not only been winning games, but they have been destroying their opponents over the last two years in the Big Dance.
UConn won all six of their NCAA Tournament games in 2023 by double-digits, and now they have done it four times in this year’s event. The Huskies are again favored by a nig number when they face the Crimson Tide on Saturday night, so can Alabama break the trend?
Our resident college hoops expert Ej Garr will be covering both semifinal Final Four Tournament games here at BettingExpert. When the Championship game takes place on Monday, Ej will be here to cover the last game of the campaign, so stay tuned!

UConn vs Alabama Prediction and Picks
- Selection: 1st-Half Under 77 Points
- Best Odds: 1.91
- Bookmaker: Bet365
- Stakes: 4/10
Odds are available as of April 5th, 2024. Odds may now differ.
UConn has won five National titles, and should they win another Championship this year they will break a 3-way tie with Duke and Indiana. The Blue Devils, Hoosiers, and Huskies are tied for fourth place on the all-time list of title winners. But neither Duke nor Indiana is here to stake any claims.
The Huskies have been a dominant force in the NCAA Tournament over the last two campaigns. And how can you not be blown away by the stats? That’s 10 straight wins at the NCAA Men’s Tournament in blowout fashion. No one has come close to challenging the Huskies in two years.
The underdog mentality I have is killing me with almost a dozen points on the handicap. But, I would never suggest fading UConn to anyone. The influence of big #32 for the Huskies in the middle, is a huge advantage to have when everything is a win-or-go-home situation.
Donovan Cingan only played 2 minutes against Illinois in the Regional Final. But, the UConn +/- ratio when he was on the court was massive. In only 22 minutes, Clingan blocked 5 shots, scored 22 points, grabbed 10 boards, and came up with three steals en route to a 77 – 52 win.
While N.C. State is a surprise participant in the NCAA Men’s Basketball Tournament this year, seeing Alabama here might also be surprising. If you had ROLL TIDE in your bracket to win their Reginal Final, you made quite a nice call!
My call for this game is that we will see a low-scoring opening stanza. I see 77 points is too high, considering that the UConn defense has been stellar over the last two years.

UConn Huskies News, Injury Report, Schedule
This is a team that is just as hungry to win a title as they were last year. Keep in mind that this is not the same group of players that were here a season ago, but the new faces have seemingly only improved this program.
Tristen Newton leads a group of four Huskies averaging double-digits in the post-season, and the 8-man rotation that Coach Dan Hurley has to utilize has come in handy. Limiting second-chance opportunities is a big objective for the Huskies. You will see plenty of defensive rebounds from this entire roster tonight, and that will be how they advance to another finals appearance in 2024… Hint!
Alabama Crimson Tide News, Injury Report, Schedule
Latrell Whitesell is expected back in the rotation after missing the last two NCAA Men’s Basketball Tournament games with a head injury. Whitesell averaged 9.1 PPG in the regular season and in three post-season games he is averaging 8.3 PPG.
Alabama lost their first-round SEC Tournament game against Florida, but they are now 4 – 0 in this year’s tourney. Favored in three of four games played, the Tide had to pull one big upset over North Carolina in the Sweet 16 before taking out Clemson last weekend.
UConn vs Alabama H2H
UConn and Alabama have met on two occasions, and the Huskies are 2 – 0 in those affairs.
These two programs met in the Elite-8 of the 2004 NCAA Men’s Basketball Tournament, and the Huskies eventually won the title that campaign. Ironically, when the teams met at the 2022 Phil Knight Invitational, UConn again won that game and then went on to win the Championship.
So, if UConn wins this game, history could repeat itself if the Huskies win their 6th National title on Monday. See you then!
