Kansas has already set the bar as the winningest program in the history of college basketball during this tournament but there is still more left to accomplish this season for the favoured Jayhawks in New Orleans. 

The Jayhawks will be competing in their 16th Final Four and this is the 4th appearance under Head Coach Bill Self. Amazingly, Kansas is the only team to reach the Final Four that won the regular-season conference title, the conference tournament title, while chasing an even bigger piece of hardware should they win the National Championship again. 

Even without the heavy presence of David McCormack, who is struggling with a bit of knock seeing limited time, this Jayhawks team is easily the deepest in this competition of the last remaining programs.

Villanova only played 6 guys in their regional title game win but then the bad news came. Justin Moore went down late in the game with a torn Achilles and you could see the emotion from his teammates on the sidelines after the win over Miami. Losing a key player on a team with almost no depth is going to test Jay Wright’s bunch to take on this Jayhawk team with expectations to win. 

Villanova has won 20 NCAA Tournament games over the last 6 seasons and this is the third time the Cats have reached this stage of the event over that span. Unfortunately, Kansas just has too much to deal with so we have to play the favourite and take Kansas to cover the -4.

Duke vs North Carolina Best Bet

Coach K has saved the last dance for 2022 and what a way to go out while reaching the Final Four before taking the final bow. On top of that, getting another crack at the Tar Heels to boot?. Make no mistake that everyone in this Blue Devil locker room remembers what happened in Coach K’s last home game. The Tarheels spoiled the day in front of the crazies at Cameron Indoor Stadium on national TV and now Duke gets their shot to exact some revenge on an even bigger stage with much larger implications.

Coach K will pass John Wooden by making his 13th Final Four appearance this season and that alone is simply amazing to even fathom. In fact, Coach K will go down as the only other person to reach the Final Four in his last season joining Bill Guthridge of none other than these Carolina Tar Heels.

Hubert Davis will also make some history becoming one of two people to ever play and coach the same team into the Final Four. Dick Harp did it with Kansas in 1957 as a coach and ironically he lost in the finals to the Tar Heels in triple overtime, 54 – 53.

I simply cannot fade Coach K in his quest to make this last dance a special one as I believe Kansas and Duke will meet in the finals. I am not one to play favourites as you might have noticed, but when the time comes to do it we must be aware of it. The revenge factor of getting another crack at North Carolina is what does it for me as these two teams are meeting for the first time ever in the Final Four even with all of the histories they both have on this stage.
