Virginia Tech vs Texas Best Bet

The Hokies and Longhorns will be meeting for the first time and apparently, the line setters want to try to deter you from making the right decision toward who will win this game. The Longhorns completely fell apart down the stretch of the regular season losing 5 of their last 8 games while making a quick exit from the Big 12 Conference Tournament this past weekend.
Meanwhile, Virginia Tech only went on to hoist the ACC Tournament trophy after spending their extended weekend 4 games in 4 days! So, the oddsmakers have given you the option to pick ‘em and that’s exactly what we’ll be doing.
Even though Texas played their games amongst a solid Big 12 Conference over the last 2 months, the decline at the end of the season is a concern. Most coaches want their programs to be playing well and in sync when the tournament begins and Texas simply is not there right now. Chris Beard took on the challenge of leaving Texas Tech on poor terms and Texas might just end up being a one-and-done team in the big dance this season after they get taken out by the Hokies on Friday.
- Selection: Virginia Tech to win
- Best odds: 2.01 (Marathonbet)
- Stakes 4/10

UAB vs Houston Best Bet

It is not very often that you can test the #1 ranked defence in the entire nation, but the Houston Cougars will be tested again to open the NCAA Tournament. The Blazers’ offence is just a machine that can go and that will make life difficult for the Cats to open their ledger in the event.
UAB’s offence averages 80 PPG and that puts their ranking at 14th in the nation in scoring. Houston is not accustomed to seeing good shooting teams in the American Athletic Conference because there aren’t many to find. The AAC is filled with defensive-minded programs while UAB plays in a relatively weak Conference USA.
The Houston offence might actually get to produce some points themselves because they can actually score when they need to. The Cougars put up an average of nearly 76 PPG and they should be able to find all of those and then some to open the NCAA Tournament. The Cougars have 7 players averaging over 9 PPG and I expect all of them to get opportunities to produce in this contest.
- Selection: Over 135.5 Points
- Best odds: 1.84 (Unibet)
- Stakes: 4/10
Davidson vs Michigan State Best Bet

Michigan State Spartans’ Head Coach Tom Izzo gets more out of his kids than most coaches around the landscape of college basketball. His tenure in East Lansing has been filled with big moments but a 1st Round game in the NCAA Tournament is still a big deal no matter what year it is. Since taking over in 1996, Coach Izzo has gotten his programs to 8 Final Four appearances along with the hardware in the showcase from the win of the big dance in 2000.
Davidson has put together a fantastic season under their head coach Bob McKillop who has also been holding a whistle for quite some time. McKillop took over the Wildcat program in 1989 which easily makes this a game with two of the longest-tenured coaches with one team in NCAA basketball.
Spartan forward Gabe Brown will be playing his final season for the Spartans and he can certainly not afford to struggle again this weekend. We have seen a handful of games this season where he has completely disappeared but hopefully he will not let that happen in his final NCAA Tournament showing. There were 6 games this season where Brown scored 5 points or less and your leading scorer has to be able to provide a spark to keep team confidence in order.
We know the Spartans are a deep team since they have 9 players who have made an appearance in just about every game this year. That is a rare commodity these days as depth is a major issue for so many coaches around the landscape of college hoops this season.
- Selection: Michigan State to win
- Best odds: 1.86 (Bet365)
- Stakes: 4/10

TCU vs Seton Hall Best Bet
Sat, March 19, 01:57 (UK time)
TCU has been battle-tested all season having played an extremely tough Big 12 schedule that is filled with talent this season. On the other hand, Seton Hall plays in the Big East Conference and this is simply not your daddy’s Big East anymore. Once upon a time, the Big East Conference was the gold standard of college hoops but that is simply not the case nowadays.
Both programs finished in 5th place within their respective conferences, and neither side really has an attractive offence that produces big results on the scoreboard. TCU ranks 249th in the nation only scoring 68.4 PPG and don’t expect many 3-point shots to ease through the rim because the Frogs are ranked 336th in all of college hoops only converting 29.9% of their shots from behind the arc.
The Pirates’ defence turned it up as the regular season came to a close and there is no shame in losing to programs like UConn and Villanova who are certainly high-calibre opponents in the Big East Conference. Despite the quality of the Big 12 this season I still see Seton Hall as the better team as the 8-seed in their bracket.
- Selection: Seton Hall to win
- Best odds: 1.90 (Bet365)
- Stakes: 4/10
