Mixed martial arts NCAA March Madness Winner Odds: Tournament Best Bets
It’s March Madness, which means it is time for one of the world’s most coveted basketball tournaments to play out over the next 3 weeks. Now that the field of 68-teams is set let’s take a look at who the bookmakers consider the favourites heading into the 2022 tournament.

As many bettors will be playing the favorites to win the event, there is that one little fact to be aware of. No team west of Kansas has won the NCAA Men’s Basketball Tournament since the 1997 Arizona Wildcats earned the trophy. This time around, we have a pair of programs on the west coast as the top-2 favorites to win this year’s event.
All odds in this article as at 3am March 15th 2022. Odds may now differ.
Gonzaga Bulldogs
March Madness winner odds: 4.25 (bet365)
Gonzaga is considered the top team in the entire field. The Bulldogs will headline the West Region in the brackets. The path that the Zags would have to take to reach the Final Four in New Orleans will certainly test their fortitude but Drew Timme is a big-time leader who led this program to the finals just a year ago.
Timme and head coach Mark Few will be the biggest target in a bracket that is filled with solid programs, Michigan State, Duke, Texas Tech, UConn, while the Zag’s opening opponents will be Georgia State and the winner of the Boise State vs. Memphis affair over the first weekend of the tournament alone.
Arizona Wildcats

The Arizona Wildcats were in the top-5 of the rankings all season long. Anyone who isn’t thinking this team can win this shindig could be surprised. As I mentioned, the last program west of Kansas to hoist the hardware were these Wildcats but that was a long time ago and just an odd fact about geography.
Arizona will also have to get through some tough matchups as they progress through the South Region. A bout with either Houston or Illinois could come on the second weekend of the event and the bottom of the bracket features Villanova, Ohio State, and Tennessee who can all present difficulties as the tourney plays out. Villanova is 9th on our list of expected teams to win the big dance and Tennessee is on a big high after taking the SEC Tournament title this past weekend.
Kentucky Wildcats
March Madness winner odds: 10.00 (bet365)
The Kentucky Wildcats are a 2-seed in the East Region but yet here they are as the 3rd team on the list of expected champions of the Men’s NCAA Basketball Tournament. By the same token, do we see who is #4 in the table? Baylor is listed behind the Wildcats on the big board but yet they will potentially be meeting each other in the Regional Finals.
The Wildcats didn’t even advance to the SEC title game but they do have a prolific coach in John Calipari who can motivate a program to win as well as any coach in the land. Luckily for the Wildcats, they won’t have to face Tennessee because the Vols beat Kentucky twice down the stretch while also knocking Kentucky out of the SEC tourney much earlier than expected.
Baylor Bears

The Baylor Bears are the defending National Champions but this season has been filled with ups and downs for the outfit out of Waco, TX. The Bears will open the tournament in Fort Worth, TX, which should help provide plenty of support from the crowd opening weekend.
Baylor has two big concerns to deal with as they hope to defend their title. Leading scorer L.J Cryer went down with an ankle injury in late January and he might make it back in time for Final Four weekend if the Bears can navigate their way there. Another big loss for the Bears comes in the form of Jonathan Tchamwa Tchatchoua whose knee injury came at the wrong time of the season. His defensive presence along with his ability to control the glass and paint will leave Baylor short-handed which will test the depth of this program.
Kansas Jayhawks
March Madness winner odds: 13.00 (bet365)
Ring the bell and sound the alarms! While Baylor may be the team ahead of them in the rankings, the Kansas Jayhawks might just be the best team in the country with the best coach in the country and the best player in the country.
The Big 12 conference was one battle after another as the regular season played out. When the non-conference schedule came to a close in December, every Big 12 program in the conference had a winning record and then they all started playing each other. Even the teams at the bottom of the table were giving the top-4 programs fits every night because of the depth of the Big 12 this season.
Kansas is the most battle-tested team with stars all over the court. Ochai Agbaji is the Big 12 Player of the Year and even the games that he missed you could see how this team came together to find big wins. David McCormack is a load to deal with inside the paint while both Christian Braun and Jalen Wilson provide around 25 points and 13 rebounds combined a night.
Duke Blue Devils
March Madness winner odds: 16.00 (bet365)
The Blue Devils didn’t exactly end the season with sparks flying. Duke lost their big regular-season finale in Coach K’s final home appearance against North Carolina and then lost the ACC tournament title game in ugly fashion to Virginia Tech. In all honesty, I see Virginia Tech posing more of a threat out of the ACC than Duke can provide from the 5 ACC programs that made entry to the tournament.
Purdue Boilermakers
March Madness winner odds: 15.00 (bet365)
The Big Ten Conference is sending the most teams to the NCAA Men’s Basketball Tournament (9) but that does not mean the best team plays here. Wisconsin and Illinois might garner the respect of bettors out there because Purdue might not even be the best team in the Big 10, much less the country.
Auburn Tigers
March Madness winner odds: 17.00 (bet365)
The Tigers don’t even belong on this list and I would not suggest you even think about losing a dime of your money expecting this team to win the title. The Tigers fell flat in the SEC Tournament and the Volunteers would give you more bang for your buck @ 21.00. Tennessee is playing with much more confidence and Vols Head Coach Rick Barnes has his program in a much better position than the Tigers are currently. Leave Auburn alone!
Villanova Wildcats
March Madness winner odds: 18.00 (bet365)
Speaking of great coaches, Jay Wright is about as good as it gets and he gives Villanova a chance to win by himself. Sure, the players will end up deciding how far they go but Coach Wright will have them all in winning positions throughout the tournament. Villanova will not have an easy path to the Final Four, however, as they might have to face Ohio State, Tennessee, and Arizona en route to New Orleans.
Tennessee Volunteers
March Madness winner odds: 21.00 (bet365)
Tennessee is undoubtedly a great call for those looking for a long shot to win the NCAA Men’s Basketball Tournament. The Vols took down Kentucky twice down the stretch of the season which included an easy win over the Wildcats in the SEC Tournament. The Vols ended up cruising past a hot Texas A&M program en route to the first SEC title since 1979 carrying momentum at the right time of the season.
NCAA March Madness Best Bets
Even Coach Tom Izzo of Michigan State was quoted during the Big Ten Conference Tournament this past week saying, “It’s the right time of year to be getting better.”
Tennessee, Arizona, and Kansas are my 3 best bets to lift the trophy because of how much better they seemed to get as the regular season and conference tournaments played out.
With all of that said, Kansas is my call to win it all in 2022 at great odds of 13.00!
