Boston Celtics vs Brooklyn Nets

After a slow start to the season, the Boston Celtics have finally found their stride and are on a 3-game winning streak. They have averaged 109.2 points per game, and their defence has been solid, with a rating of 105.3  (6th in NBA). Jaylen Brown made his return to the lineup in their last game against the Rockets and poured in 19 points in 23 minutes of action. Jayson Tatum has picked up the pace with his scoring recently, whilst Al Horford and Dennis Schroeder have also been crucial to the Celtics’ recent success.

The Brooklyn Nets are now sitting atop the Eastern Conference with 13 wins, riding a 3-game winning streak. But they faced the Cavaliers twice and the Magic during that home run, and suffered a humiliating 99-117 loss against the Warriors in the game prior. The Nets have struggled against teams that play solid defence, and the Celtics have the capacity to keep them at bay. At 2.10 odds this is a value bet, but the Celtics are also available at 1.88 odds at +1.5 points.

Tip: Boston Celtics to win at 2.10 odds

New Orleans Pelicans vs Washington Wizards

The New Orleans Pelicans have won just 3 games to start the season, and are currently one of the worst teams in the NBA. Not much has gone right for them this season apart from their free-throw shooting and rebounding. But they have performed much better at home than on the road so far, and they were very close to defeating the Wizards last time around. The Pelicans’ defence has been solid in the last 5 games with a rating of 107.2 (16th), and it’s just a matter of time when they can start a winning streak.

The Wizards have had a surprisingly successful start to the season, but their recent play has left a lot to be desired. The Wizards have been one of the worst attacking teams in the NBA in the last 5 games, averaging just 99.0 points per game, whilst committing 14.4 turnovers per game and shooting 30.8% from beyond the arc. The Wizards have covered the spread in just 37.5% of their away games, and their lack of a reliable second scoring option has kept this team from achieving their potential. The Pelicans’ solid defence and home advantage should allow them to keep the game close, and cover the spread in this one.

Tip: New Orleans Pelicans +3.5 at 1.94 odds.

Milwaukee Bucks vs Detroit Pistons

The Milwaukee Bucks have had a disappointing start to the season, but they have managed to bounce back, and are riding a 4-game winning streak. They are coming off a dominant win against the Orlando Magic, and are looking to finish their home run with another victory. But they have faced the Lakers, Magic and Thunder in their last 4 games, and their form isn’t nearly as good as the numbers suggest. The Bucks have come up short multiple times this season largely due to their defensive inconsistency. In fact, the Bucks have allowed an average of 107.1 points per game, and have covered the spread in 7 of their 18 games this season.

The Detroit Pistons are by no means a threat to the Bucks in this one, with just 4 wins since the start of the season, but the +13.5 point spread is too tempting to ignore. Most of their recent games have been very close, and their last 3 losses have been by an average of 5.3 points. The Bucks demolished them last time they played each other by 117-89 and the Pistons will be out for revenge in this game. Although they don’t have much of a chance to win in this one, they have what it takes to keep the game close, which is why the +13.5 points at 2.01 odds is a value bet.

Tip: Detroit Pistons +13.5 at 2.01 odds.

Sacramento Kings vs Portland Trail Blazers

The Sacramento Kings are once again struggling to find their rhythm losing 8 of their last 10 games. They are 12th in the Western Conference with just 6 wins so far and are on a 4-game losing streak. The Kings have one of the worst defences in the league, allowing 110.6 points per game, and a rating of 110.8 (25th in NBA). Their rebounding has also been subpar, along with their passing and ball handling. With an assist to turnover ratio of 1.55, they are 19th in the league. The Kings are struggling to find easy points largely due to their lack of teamwork, and this isn’t something that will change anytime soon.

But the Portland Trail Blazers have finally managed to bounce back and find their stride after a lacklustre start to the season. They are on a 4-game winning streak and coming off a blowout win against the Denver Nuggets at home. The Blazers are averaging 110.4 points per game (5th), and 23.6 assists per game (10th in NBA, whilst shooting 39.1% beyond the arc in the last 5 games. They are in excellent shape at the moment and their star duo of C.J. McCollum and Damian Lillard is getting the job done. The -2.5 point spread should be no problem whatsoever for them against this struggling Kings team, and at 1.94 odds it provides excellent value.

Tip: Portland Trail Blazers -2.5 at 1.94 odds
