Warriors vs Pelicans – Warriors -8.50
The Golden State Warriors are one of the best teams in the NBA at the moment. With 6 wins and 1 loss, they are 2nd in the Western Conference standings and sitting atop the Pacific Division. They are 5th in the NBA with 111.3 points per game and have one of the best and most fluid offences in the league. But what’s even more impressive is what Steve Kerr has been able to achieve with their defence. They have the top-ranked defence in the NBA with a rating of 97.1 and are easily able to hold opponents to low-scoring outings.
On the other side, the Pelicans are one of the worst teams in the league, and already out of the playoff picture. With just 1 win and 8 losses since the start of the season, the Pelicans are dead last in the Western Conference. They are on a 5-game losing streak and are coming off a 112-99 loss to the Sacramento Kings. The Pelicans are among the worst teams in almost all categories this season, and the only thing going for them is rebounding. But with just 103.2 points per game and 16.4 turnovers per game, they simply don’t have the offensive chemistry to challenge the Warriors. Their defence is also among the worst 5 in the NBA, and I expect the Warriors to get a blowout victory in this one.

Grizzlies vs Wizards – Grizzlies + 1.00
The Memphis Grizzlies have justified their A grade in my NBA Betting Value Report Cards with a solid start to the season. With 5 wins and 3 losses, they are 4th in the western conference and riding a 2-game winning streak. They are coming off a 108:106 win against the Denver Nuggets, and the team is in excellent shape at the moment. The Grizzlies have one of the best offences in the league, scoring 110.9 points per game, and averaging 25.6 assists per game. Defence has been a concern since the start of the season, but it shouldn’t be a problem against this Wizards team who tend to struggle on offence.
The Warriors have had a surprisingly solid start to the season, but their competition in all 8 matches has been questionable. They faced the Boston Celtics, Toronto Raptors and Atalanta Hawks twice each, all teams who have struggled to start the season. They are 7th in the Eastern Conference with 5 wins and 3 losses, but I expect these numbers to settle down, and the Warriors to drop down to the 12th spot. The Wizards are averaging just 21.1 assists per game, and their 3-point percentage is very poor at 31.9%.
Though this may turn out to be a close game, I trust the Grizzlies to come out on top using their pace, physicality and teamwork.

Pistons vs Nets – Nets -10.00
As expected, the Detroit Pistons are having a terrible start to the 2021/22 season, and the team is already out of all playoff conversations. With just 1 win and 7 losses, they are last in the Eastern Conference, with no hopes of making a comeback. The Pistons are terrible on both sides of the court, scoring just 95.5 and allowing 108.6 points per game. They are among the worst teams in the NBA in almost all other categories. The Pistons have also had one of the most difficult schedules in the league, and their form has suffered as a result. 5 of their 7 losses have come by 10 points or more, and I expect to see another blowout loss in this one.
Despite struggling against the top teams, the Brooklyn Nets have had a solid start to the season. With 5 wins and 3 losses, they are 5th in the Eastern Conference and looking to climb the ladder. They are on a 3-game winning streak and coming off a 117-108 win over the Atlanta Hawks. They have found their pace after a slow start to the season, and their biggest stars in Kevin Durant and James Harden are leading the team’s offence with 28.3 and 18.3 points per game respectively. Their ball movement and solid defence have earned them a 117-91 win over the Pistons in their recent encounter, and I expect more of the same in this one.

Raptors vs Cavaliers – Cavs + 5.50
After a poor start to the season, the Toronto Raptors are doing unexpectedly well in the Eastern Conference. With 6 wins and 3 losses, they are 4th in the conference and just 1 game behind the 76ers. Surprisingly, it’s their defence that has been the reason behind their success, allowing just 100.2 points per game, and ranked 6th in defensive rating. They’ve also allowed just over 100 points in their last 5 games, and their rebounding has also been impressive. However, their ball movement and scoring have been concerning, with just 19.9 assists and 105.3 points scored per game. Their pace rating is second-lowest in the league at 97.3.
That said, the Cavaliers have also had similar issues this season, with solid defence and poor offence. The Cavs are averaging just 104.2 points scored per game and 104.9 allowed per game. They are also among the slowest teams in the league with a pace rating of 98.5. Whilst their defence isn’t elite, with a rating of 106.4, it’s enough to challenge a Raptors offence that struggles to share the ball and find easy scoring opportunities. I expect to see a very low-scoring encounter between two slow and defensive-minded teams, and Under 212.5 points at 1.90 odds is the best value offer.
