Los Angeles Lakers vs Phoenix Suns: Lakers -1.0 at 1.95 odds
The Los Angeles Lakers lost their season opener to the Golden State Warriors due to an unusually bad defensive performance. They weren’t able to keep their shooters at bay, and also allowed 9 offensive rebounds. The Lakers scored 114 points, but Russel Westbrook was a non-factor for them, and I expect that to change against the Suns. The Lakers have a reputation of being a tough team with solid perimeter defence, and good shot-blocking, and it should give them the edge in this one.
The Phoenix Suns had a terrible outing in their opening game against the Nuggets and were only able to score 98 points against a team known for their poor defence. Their team chemistry is at a low point with Deandre Ayton being unhappy due to his contract negotiations, and it will surely translate on the court until the matter is resolved. The Lakers won 4 out of their last 6 encounters against the Suns, and they have the necessary pieces on both sides of the floor to get the job done in this one.

Cleveland vs Cavaliers Charlotte Hornets: – Over 225.5 at 1.90 odds
The Cavs only won 22 games last season, but their young core showed signs of greatness. Collin Sexton and Darius Garland are valuable assets to this team, and they are on track to have an excellent season this year. They scored 17 and 13 points against a tough Grizzlies team in their season opener, but the team scored well as a whole, and scored 121 points.
This game should see a lot of scoring, and very little defence knowing these two teams. The Charlotte Hornets aren’t exactly known for playing tough defence, and their season opener against Indiana saw 245 points. I expect this one to be a high-scoring encounter with lots of back-and-forth between the young guards.

Orlando Magic vs New York Knicks: – Knicks -7.0 at 1.90 odds
The Orlando Magic are in full rebuild mode, and it’s fair to expect them to be a losing team for the next few years. They lost their season opener to the Spurs by 97-123, and I don’t expect them to give the Knicks much trouble in this one. Their ball handling was terrible in that one, with just 17 assists and 16 turnovers.
The Knicks have finally made it out of the trenches and are once again a formidable Eastern Conference team. Their season opener was a close victory over the Boston Celtics, and scoring wasn’t an issue this time. The Knicks still lack ball movement, but this shouldn’t be a problem against the Magic. I expect a dominant win for the Knicks, with solid outings from Randle, Barret, and Fournier.

Denver Nuggets vs San Antonio Spurs: – Over 219.5 points at 1.90 odds.
The Nuggets are one of the most dangerous offensive teams in the league and were 8th in points per game last season with 115.1. Their season opener was a 110-98 victory over a tough Phoenix Suns team, and they will likely continue their solid form against the Spurs. They have averaged 119.0 points against the Spurs in their last 5 encounters and I expect another high-scoring performance from their stars in Jokic, Porter Jr and Barton.
The San Antonio Spurs have fallen off in recent seasons, but their young players have performed very well in the pre-season, and they look ready to continue rolling. They beat the Orlando Magic in their season opener by 123-97, and their biggest weakness from last season was their biggest strength in this one. The Spurs shot 43.3% from behind the 3-point line and finished with 32 assists. This isn’t a one-time occurrence; the Spurs have been moving the ball well in their recent matches, and their scoring has been balanced in each game. 4 of their last 5 encounters against the Nuggets have seen more than 220 points, and I expect this one to be no different.
