Bayern Munich vs Panathinaikos
Bayern Munich certainly aren’t the best team in the Euroleague, winning 4 of their first 10 games, and averaging 75.7 points allowed per game. But they have had a very difficult schedule since the start of the season, already playing 6 away games before getting a home victory against Fenerbahce. Their play at home has been much better than average, and this will be their second home game in a row. Despite shooting poor percentages in their recent game, their defensive effort kept Fener to just 63 points and forced 18 turnovers.
They will be playing Panathinaikos, one of the worst teams in the Euroleague this year, and home advantage should be enough to get them over the edge. In fact, Panathinaikos are winless in all away games so far, averaging just 66.1 points per game. There is a huge difference in how this team plays in home games versus away, so don’t be surprised if you see another lacklustre performance from the Greek side. Bayern provide solid value when playing at home, and I have them to cover the 7.5-point spread against the 17th-ranked team in the league.
Tip: Bayern -7.5 at 1.90 odds

Crvena Zvezda vs Real Madrid
Crvena Zvezda were demolished by Baskonia in their most recent game in Vitoria-Gasteiz by 19 points, and their low-energy play will have bettors cautious. But this isn’t what we have seen from this team this season, and an unusually bad defensive night has them at +14.5 points in the Asian Handicap. But this is a team that has played excellent defence this season, averaging just 66.0 points allowed before the last game, and they tend to bounce back after taking a hard loss.
Though Real Madrid are one of the best Euroleague teams this year with excellent defence and elite offence, this will be their 4th game within a 7-day period. I certainly don’t expect Real Madrid to lose this one, but the -14.5 point spread is simply too tempting to ignore.
Tip: Crvena Zvezda +14.5 points at 1.99 odds.

Zenit St Petersburg vs Armani Milano
Zenit have had a mediocre start to the season, but they have managed to bounce back nicely, and they are now on a 4-game winning streak in the Euroleague, and coming off a routine victory over Alba Berlin. Their offence has fared very well in recent games, averaging 83.0 points per game, and this will be their third straight game in Saint Petersburg. They have 8 different players averaging more than 5 points per game and are shooting excellent percentages from everywhere.
Despite coming off a blowout 97-71 loss to Unics in Kazan, Armani Milano are by no means a team that should be underestimated. Though this isn’t the type of performance we can expect again from this squad, this will be their third away game in a row, and you can expect fatigue to play a factor for them. I don’t expect Zenit to dominate, but they are in a much better position coming into this game, and their potent offence should be able to cover the 1-point spread.
Tip: Zenit -1.0 at 1.90 odds

Lyon-Villeurbanne vs Barcelona
ASVEL started the Euroleague season with a 3-game winning streak, but their form has dropped off lately. They have suffered 2 losses in a row to Crvena Zvezda and Real Madrid and were nowhere near victory in either game. Apart from Okobo and Jones, ASVEL simply doesn’t have enough reliable scoring options, and once these two are contained, the team is left without ideas. Their defence has conceded 76.2 points per game this year, allowing opponents to shoot solid percentages from both inside and out.
They will be facing one of the best teams in the league, who are on a 2-game winning streak and red hot at the moment. Barcelona are shooting 38.9% for 3, and 54.5% for 2, whilst allowing 72.7 points per game. Though Mirotic is their main scorer, they have multiple players who can deliver points like Calathes, Jones and Higgins. Barcelona have ASVEL outmatched in almost every category, and I expect them to get their 3rd win in a row, easily covering the 5 point spread.
Tip: Barcelona -5.0 at 1.90 odds
