Maccabi Tel Aviv vs Real Madrid Best Bet
Thu, Mar 24. 19:05 (UK)
Maccabi Tel Aviv are 7th in the Euroleague with 12 wins and 11 losses and have won 3 of their last 5 games. They are coming off a convincing 75-58 home victory against Olimpia Milano, making it 5 home victories in a row. Jalen Renolds and James Nunnaly lead the way for Maccabi with 14 points each, whilst Ante Zizic pitched in with 12. This was a crucial victory for the Tel Aviv side, but this encounter with Real Madrid is just as crucial.
Maccabi have been in excellent form recently, amassing a record of 6 wins and 3 losses since the new year. Their defensive performance has improved significantly, but their offence has been the main reason behind their success, led by Scottie Wilbekin and James Nunnally. Home territory has been a huge advantage for Maccabi in recent games, and with just 16% of bettors backing them to win tonight, the betting value is on their side.
Real Madrid are one of the strongest teams in the Euroleague, sitting 2nd in the standings with 18 wins and just 7 losses on the season. They are favourites to win this one at 1.64 odds, but their recent record has left a great deal to be desired. They have won just 2 of their last 5 Euroleague games, and are coming off a 93-90 loss to Anadolu Efes on Tuesday. It was a subpar defensive performance from the Madrid side that allowed Efes to shoot 44.0% from beyond the arc, along with the offensive talent of reigning Euroleague MVP Vasilije Micic who poured in 29 points.
Although this team has had an excellent season, they recently lost their games to Efes, Crvena Zvezda, Zalgiris, Barcelona and Fenerbahce. They are very beatable, and with 6 of their 7 losses this season coming on the road, Maccabi have a very good chance at pulling off the upset. This will be their second away game this week and with 84% of punters picking them to win, it’s an excellent moment to bet against them.
- Selection: Maccabi to Win
- Best Odds: 2.35 (Bet365)
- Stakes: 4/10

Alba Berlin vs Crvena Zvezda Best Bet
Fri, Mar 25. 19:00 (UK)
Having lost 2 games in a row, Alba Berlin are now 12th in the Euroleague standings with 9 wins and 14 losses. They enjoyed a nice 4-game winning streak from mid-February to mid-March, but have since suffered another drop in form, losing their games against Baskonia and Barcelona. It wasn’t a terrible offensive performance on their side against Barcelona, but their defence allowed 95 points, along with an opponent 3 point field-goal percentage of 60.9%.
Alba’s chances of making the top 8 are very slim, and if they continue to play such bad defence, they don’t stand a chance. They beat Crvena Zvezda earlier this season by 78-63 in Belgrade, but both teams are in much different form at the moment. Alba have allowed an average of 80.0 points per game this season, as well as an opponent 3-point field-goal percentage of 36.4%, and I don’t expect them to suddenly turn it around.
On the other hand, Crvena Zvezda have been in solid shape recently after a horrible start to the season. They have won 4 of their last 5 games, discounting last time’s 82-70 loss to Barcelona on the road. They are now 9th in the Euroleague standings with 11 wins and 13 losses. This game against Alba is crucial to their season, as they are just 1 win away from the top 8.
This team has pulled off multiple upsets this season against very strong teams like Real Madrid, Zenit, Olympiacos and Unics. They are capable of playing lockdown defence when the situation requires, and what a better opportunity than the fight for the top 8. They are available at 2.10 odds to win, and the value is certainly with them. I expect a slow and defence-heavy game between these two teams, and the guests to come out on top. The bookmakers also expect a low-scoring affair, with the Over/Under mark set at 153.5 points at 1.90 odds.
- Selection: Zvezda to Win
- Best Odds: 2.10 (Marathonbet)
- Stakes: 5/10
