Anadolu Efes vs Real Madrid Best Bet

Tue, Mar 22.  17:30 (UK)

Anadolu Efes are now sitting in 6th place in the Euroleague standings, coming off an 85-71 victory over Zalgiris. The defending Euroleague champions have had a very difficult season so far, losing 14 games so far, but they have managed to bounce back using mostly their elite offence. Efes are averaging 82.8 points per game, on a 47.6% field-goal percentage and 17.7 assists, and are one of the highest-scoring teams in the league.

They enjoyed an excellent shooting night against Zalgiris, going 11/26 from downtown, and hitting 54.2% of their field goals. Rodrigue Beaubois and Tibor Pleiss contributed off the bench with 15 and 12 points respectively, whilst Vasilije Micic led the way with 20 points and 7 assists. But Efes have had severe defensive issues this season, allowing an average of 80.5 points per game, and allowing opponents to shoot 36.6% from beyond the arc. They are a terrible defensive side who often engage in very high-scoring games.

Meanwhile, Real Madrid have had a lot of success this season and are sitting 2nd in the league standings with 22 wins and 7 losses. They have been in terrible form recently, losing 3 of their last 5 Euroleague games, but are coming off a 70-58 victory over Lyon. Real Madrid are averaging 77.7 points per game on a 33.3% three-point percentage. They won their first encounter against Efes this season by 82-69, but their opponents are in much better form at the moment, and 70% of bettors are backing them to get the job done at home. How the turntables have…

But Real Madrid have been an excellent defensive side this season, allowing just 71.2 points per game and keeping opponents to a field-goal percentage of 42.6%. That said, they have shown signs of weakness on the road, with 6 of their 7 losses this season coming in away games. Their defence allowed 88 points against Milano, 84 against Monaco and 93 against Barcelona, and I expect Efes to have the same success this time around.

  • Selection: Over 156.5

  • Stakes: 5/10

Monaco vs Olympiacos Best Bet

Wed, Mar 23.  20:00 (UK)

Monaco are one of the hottest teams in the Euroleague right now, having won 8 and lost just 3 games since the new year. They are coming off a 102:80 victory over Anadolu Efes, and are playing their 2nd game in a row at home, with their game against CSKA having been cancelled. They are in excellent form at the moment, and looking for revenge after that embarrassing 86-65 loss in Pireas earlier this season.

Mike James went off for 27 points with 6 assists in their most recent Euroleague game, and he will likely be their main scoring option in this game as well. Monaco are averaging 84.1 points per game, and their offence has been sensational all season. They had some major defensive issues earlier in the year, but they have made significant improvements recently under Sasa Obradovic. They have been on fire at home in the last few months, and I’m backing them to get the job done tonight.

Olympiacos have been one of the most consistent teams in the league this year, and are deservingly sitting in 4th place in the Euroleague standings with 18 wins and 10 losses. They have won 4 of their last 5 Euroleague games, and are coming off a 101-73 victory over Panathinaikos. But despite their excellent results, they don’t have me convinced in this one. As good as they’ve been at home this year, their performances on the road have left a lot to be desired.

9 of their 10 losses this year have come on the road, and a lot of them have been against much weaker teams. Their defence is the main culprit, being unable to compensate when their shots aren’t falling. Olympiacos have allowed an average of 83.3 points in their last 3 road games, and they are facing a team that plays extremely well at home.  The bookmakers see Olympiacos as slight underdogs, but I see a lot of value in backing the home team due to their exceptional form.

  • Selection: Monaco to Win
  • Best Odds: 1.97 (Marathonbet)
  • Stakes: 7/10
