Los Angeles Clippers vs Dallas Mavericks Prediction, Picks, Odds, News, Injury Report 4/23/24
After the Clippers claimed the opening game of the series, the pressure is on the Dallas Mavericks in the build-up to Game Two. Kawhi Leonard is again listed as questionable after sitting out the series opener – losing the first two games with Leonard sitting out would be a massive disappointment for a Mavericks team that finished the season so strongly.
The NBA Playoffs are underway, and our Expert Insights are still going to be stacked with basketball betting tips. Tipster Sam Cox will have his best bets throughout the postseason.
Clippers vs Mavericks Prediction and Picks: 5.25 Wager For Game Two
- Dallas Mavericks moneyline
- Kyrie Irving over 25.5 points
- James Harden over 2.5 turnovers
Bet Builder Odds: 5.25
We know Irving can ramp up his production when it matters most in the postseason. His 31 points in the series opener made it five times in seven outings that he’s gone over this points line.
On the other end of the Playoff spectrum, James Harden is notoriously inconsistent. Harden only turned the ball over once in game one, but he had 10 turnovers across his previous two postseason outings. It’s never a good idea to expect consecutive good Playoff performances from Harden, so we’re taking his turnovers over to get us to tantalizing odds of 5.25.

Los Angeles Clippers News, Injury Report, Schedule: Leonard Questionable Again
Kawhi Leonard’s knee issue casts a shadow over this series for the Clippers. James Harden stepped up in game one in Leonard’s absence, but it’s not reasonable to expect a sustained level of production from Harden. Los Angeles has their work cut out on Tuesday night if Leonard is still unavailable.
It’s unlikely the Clippers will shoot 50% from three again in game two. Their 12 turnovers are a cause for concern going into Tuesday night’s duel – Dallas has become much more comfortable playing at pace this season, and they will have no trouble taking advantage if the Clips are so careless with the ball.
Dallas Mavericks News, Injury Report, Schedule: Role Players Must Improve
The Mavericks were second in three-point attempts and 13th in percentage in the regular year. They shot just 30% from downtown in game one and can expect a marked improvement in that department. Dallas got big scoring nights from Luka Doncic and Kyrie Irving but didn’t have enough production around them to get the win.
Yes, role-player performance is inconsistent in the Playoffs. Yes, the Clippers have some great defenders even without Leonard. Doncic and Irving are surrounded by plenty of shooting, though, and we’re expecting an improved performance from Tim Hardaway Jr., Maxi Kleber, and Dante Exum.
Clippers vs Mavericks H2H: Clippers Won Two Previous Series
The Clippers have won nine of the 14 games between these teams in the Playoffs. After meeting in the 2020 and 2021 Playoffs, this is something of a modern NBA rivalry.
Los Angeles was victorious in both of those series, but they were pushed by Luka Doncic on both occasions.
Dallas, however, has won 100 of the 173 regular-season matchups. The Clippers won the 2023-24 season series 2-1.
