Despite only picking up four hits in the entire game, the Marlins didn’t go away quietly and the Yankee bats left 11 players on the base path. Aaron Boone decided to leave Carlos Rodon on the mound after six sparkling innings of work, and that is when things went a little haywire. 

Rodon let a 3 – 0 lead disappear allowing two runs in the top of the 7th inning, although a Rizzo error was also responsible for the Marlin scoring. Both of the runs scored went unearned as Rodon left the game with the bases loaded, but what a job Ian Hamilton did out of the NY bullpen.

Hamilton came in and got a groundout that led to the first run, and a sacrifice fly drove in the second run. Hamilton pitched 2 solid innings overall and Clay Holmes picked up save number five for the home team, giving the Yanks a five-game win streak coming into Wednesday’s affair.

Marcus Stroman will be making his third start of the campaign for New York on Wednesday night at the Big House in the Boogie Down. Stroman has already faced the Blue Jays and Astros lineups to kick off his Yankees career, so this might seem like a night to cruise to an easy win. 

It will be exactly that, so smack down the -1.5 Handicap on the home team, and expect a sweep of the Marlins in emphatic fashion on Hump Day.

The Yankees have taken wins from the first two games of the series with the Marlins, and the brooms are out on Wednesday. With a sweep of the Fish, the Yankees will have a day off on Thursday, and they’ll take a 6-game win streak into Cleveland.

After the Yankees play three games with Guardians, a trip to Toronto to face the Blue Jays for the second time this season is up next.

Not much has changed on the injury front for New York. The same nine players who have been on the IL since the start of the year are still there, including Gerrit Cole, and D.J. LeMahieu. 

LeMahieu is about a week away from possibly returning to the roster, and Cole will be out until the end of May.

The only news to discuss is 1 – 11 for the Marlins. The worst team in the Major Leagues is struggling on every side of the diamond, and now we all just wonder how bad it will end up.

After starting the 2024 MLB campaign with nine straight losses, the Marlins are on the verge of being swept in New York. That would give them another 3-game losing streak, and after a day off to travel, the Marlins will get to play the Atlanta Braves next! Oh, that will be fun, so buckle up for more runs allowed and more losses to come.

Xavier Edwards is the only Marlin position player listed on the injury report along with five pitchers. Edwards has a nasty foot infection that could see him away from the team for longer than 10 days, so he might be out beyond that.

Sandy Alcantara is down for the year, but there is good news on the pitching side of the IL. All three pitchers the Marlins have listed on the IL are expected back within the next week or so.

JT Chargois, Edward Cabrera, and Braxton Garrett should all be back in the bullpen within the next 10 days, barring any setbacks.
