Outside of the 7 – 0 thumping in Game 2 of the series against Arizona, New York has only allowed more than five runs once this season. The Yankees held the Astros to under four runs in all four games against Houston to start the year. Doing it on the road is another impressive way to start this year, and plenty of people are surprised to see New York at 6 – 1.

Aaron Judge finally hit his first home run of 2024 in the final game against Arizona last Wednesday, but get this… Oswaldo Cabrera leads the Yankees with two home runs and 7 RBI!

The weather for Friday in the Boogie Down looks chilly, but there is no rain expected in what’s been a wet week here in New York. We haven’t seen the sun in four days, so it will be nice to see it tomorrow for opening day in the Big House!

Despite the struggles on offense for Toronto, their starting pitching has been a disaster as well. The starting rotation for the Jays has a 5.86 ERA, and I expect the Yanks to come out swinging on opening day!

We can assume that we’ll see the same top four of Torres, Soto, Judge, and Rizzo, and one swing from either bat can leave a mark. I call for a 2 – 0 1st inning lead for the Yankees, so play the Over 0.5 1st inning runs on Friday and get paid nice and early!

In all, eight Yankee players are on the injury report. New York will be without Gerrit Cole in the starting rotation for the first two months of the season, although the pitching staff has held its own out of the gate.

D.J. LeMahieu is about two weeks away from returning to the team as he is diagnosed with a right foot non-displaced bone fracture.

The Bronx Bombers will only be home for six days before hitting the road again for Cleveland. New York will play three with the Jays, and the Marlins will come to NY for a 3-game set. Toronto will be the next destination for the Yanks after their trip to Cleveland.

The Jays won their opening day game against the Rays to start their 4-game set in Tampa, but they are now 2 – 4 over their last six efforts. After the Yankees left Houston, the Jays came to Texas for three days, and let’s call them offensively challenged, shall we?!

The Blue Jays were shut out twice in 3 days against Houston, and they scored a total of 2 runs in the entire series before the day off to travel yesterday. We don’t have time to review the batting averages of every Blue Jay for you, but the numbers are not good.

The Blue Jays catcher Dan Jansen will be out of the lineup for the next two weeks, and four other pitchers appear on the injury report. 

Genesis Cabrera will return to the Jays on Friday after serving a 2-game suspension for an altercation.
