Detroit Tigers vs St. Louis Cardinals Picks, Odds, news, and more

The Detroit Tigers will host the St. Louis Cardinals for an Interleague battle on Monday, and our resident baseball expert Ej Garr plans on starting the week with a winner. In classic Ej fashion, he is breaking out another Same-Game Parlay with +210 odds, and the prediction can be found below.

We hope you like the sound of cleats crossing home plate because the expected pitching matchup points to runs being scored. Steven Matz and Kenta Maeda are set to take the Comerica Park mound to begin this 3-game series in Motown.

Hide the gasoline and keep your lighter fluid out of harm’s way. What does that all mean? Let Ej tell you the rest of the story and get paid handsomely along the way!

DETROIT TIGERS VS ST. LOUIS CARDINALS PICKS AND PREDICTION: SAME GAME PARLAY TIME!

Here in the United States, we have an expression I’d like to share with you.

When a pitcher gets torched for 7 runs and pulled off the mound for an early shower, we call that the Gas Can Affect!

This is why I told you to hide the Gasoline and anything flammable near Steven Matz because he might explode again! In all seriousness, Matz just got run off the mound against the Diamondbacks in his last start after only 4 ⅓ IP and 7 runs allowed.

The Diamondbacks ended up with a 14 – 1 win that night, and Matz picked up the loss, his second in his two starts. Location, location, location!

Matz couldn’t find the plate in that start, and I have zero confidence in him to pick up the pieces in a road game against the Tigers. I am amazed the line setters are issuing a -105 on either team to win this game, so I say thank you, and we hit the Tigers’ Moneyline.

In addition, I cannot envision Matz holding the Tigers to under 5 runs on Monday on the road to open this series. The Tigers’ team total of Over 4.5 runs is listed at plus-money, so don’t settle for that -140 on the 3.5 and sell yourself short.

The Tigers will win this game, 9 – 4, and the runs will start crossing the plate early and often on Monday from Comerica Park.

Kenta Maeda has yet to pick up a win, but he is getting closer by the start. His last time on the mound against the Rays, Maeda hurled 5 solid innings and didn’t give up a single run to the Rays, it was the offense that fell short on him despite the Tigers winning the game, 4 – 2.

Maeda will find his way to win #1 of the campaign on Monday night, and Matz gets lit up like a gas can… Again!

Detroit Tigers News, Injury Report, Schedule: Tigers’ Riley Green On Fire

The Tigers have won their last three series against Minnesota, Tampa Bay, and Kansas City taking two wins from each of the three-game sets.

Detroit will close out this home series with the Cardinals on Wednesday, and they have Thursday off before hitting the road. The first stop will be in New York to face the Yankees, and a trip to Cleveland will follow.

Hamstrings have two players bottled up for the immediate future. Gio Urshela and Andy Ibanez are both dealing with lengthy issues with their hammies, and they could both be on the sidelines for a spell.

If you need a player prop for this game, Riley Greene is the guy you should expect to smack the ball around the park. Greene has picked up a knock in 6 of his last 7 games, and he is going to enjoy a few ABs against Steven Matz!

St. Louis Cardinals News, Injury Report, Schedule: Red Birds Still Under .500

The Cardinals got swept in three games by Milwaukee after losing the last game of the series against the Oakland A’s. Since the 4-game losing skid, St. Louis has won the two series against the Diamondbacks and Mets with two wins from each three-game set.

The Cardinals will end this series with Detroit on Wednesday, and the Red Birds will also have Thursday off to travel home. St. Louis will begin a three-game series against the White Sox before the Mets arrive in Chicago for three games.

Matt Carpenter signed a 1-year deal for $740,000 to play for St. Louis this season. That’s the best waste of money a team could find, as he has played three games and won’t be back until early May.

Tigers vs Cardinals H2H: Tigers Hold The Edge

The Tigers have a 37 – 26 edge in the all-time series with the Cardinals, and Detroit has a rich recent history against St. Louis.

Detroit has only lost one series to the Cardinals since 1988, and these two teams have met 14 times over that span. Each team does have a World Series win against the other, however,

The Cardinals won the 1934 World Series against Detroit, 4 games to 3.
The Tigers won the 1968 World Series title against the Cardinals, 4 games to 3.
