The Padres are listed as considerable favorites at 1.67 to win game 2 of this 4-game set against the Giants. The total comes in at 7.5 and the run line is 1.5. Ej is turning to a play on the total again for this NL West Divisional clash. Let’s see which direction he goes on Friday in San Diego. His Padres vs Giants prediction and betting picks are listed in the article below.

We’re headed back to Petco Park, as the Padres and Giants meet for Game 2 of the 4-game series in the NL West Division. The opening day total in San Diego was in the books by the seventh inning, and that was the call from our expert, Ej Garr.

The Padres improved to 2 – 1 on the young campaign. This is because the two Seoul Series games counted as regular season affairs. The road ahead doesn’t look any easier for the Giants. They’re next trip from San Diego is to Los Angeles to face the Dodgers.

PADRES VS  GIANTS Prediction and Picks, Betting Preview and Odds

  • Selection: Match Total Over 7.5 Runs
  • Best Odds: 1.91
  • Bookmaker: Bet365
  • Stakes: 4/10

Odds are available as of March 29th, 2024. Odds may now differ.

Tonight, Joe Musgrove and Kyle Harrison have the assignment of holding these two clubs to under 8 runs. I simply do not see it happening. As you can see, I am pointing us to this Over 7.5 at 1.91, and the pitching matchup has me questioning the line setters’ offer!

Kyle Harrison has only 7 total starts under his belt in his career. I get he had a solid Spring Training camp but this is San Diego. The Padres can score runs in pairs, and they only scored in two innings on Thursday. With 2 runs in the 5th and that 4-run rally in the 7th inning, San Diego can score in spurts and they’ll be doing this all season.

To say that Joe Musgrove looked good in the pre-season would be a complete and utter lie! The dude made 3 starts in Spring Training and got shelled to the tune of a 13.50 ERA. I am not saying that it means it will translate into shelling. But, he did give up 5 ER to the Dodgers in his first start in Seoul.

We are going to drink the water from the same well we drank from on Thursday, and hit this total again! I hope they break out with the runs for us sooner than they did on Thursday, but if they get there, we’ll take them. I call for an 8 – 4 game and a dozen foots touching home plate when San Diego hosts San Francisco on Friday night at Petco Park. My Padres vs Giants prediction is for there to be at least 8 runs.

San Diego Padres News, Injury Report, Schedule

The Padres have had the Giants’ number for years. They have a 6 – 1 record at Petco Park against San Francisco in the last 7 meetings here.

San Diego has the same injury report that I gave yesterday with three players listed. Luis Patino is expected to be out for the first few weeks of the campaign. Tucupita Marcano has a torn ACL in his right knee, and his timetable to return is unknown. Reliever Glenn Otto is out with a shoulder injury, and although listed on the 15-day IL, his time on the shelf might go beyond that…

San Diego recorded hits from seven of their starting nine players in the lineup on Thursday. However, none of them came from Manny Machado. The Padres still produced 6 runs without any influence from his big bat in the clean-up spot in the order.

Xander Bogaerts, Fernando Tatis Jr., and Jake Cronenworth all recorded hits from the top-3 of the batting order on Thursday. In Thursday’s game against the Giants, Jake Cronenworth’s double was the only extra-base hit in the win.

San Francisco Giants News, Injury Report, Schedule

Former NY Met Michael Conforto was the standout player in Game 1 of the series with San Francisco. Conforto banked 3 hits in 4 AB, and his cleats touched home plate all three times he made it on base on Thursday.

There is also no change from the injury report I gave yesterday for the Giants.

San Francisco has the same five starting pitchers on the injury report. Former Cy Young winner Robbie Ray will be out until at least the all-star break after Tommy John surgery.

Alex Cobb will miss the first month of the season, as will Sean Hjelle, and Ethan Small along with Tristan Beck will be out of commission for a good period.

Padres vs Giants H2H

The Padres and Giants played 13 games in 2023, and the Padres earned 8 wins while losing 5 to their in-state rivals. San Diego has won 3 of the last 4 season series against San Francisco, and they are 6 – 1 in the last 7 meetings at Petco Park.

The Padres and Giants have met 933 times, and San Francisco holds a 488 – 445 edge in the series.
