Baltimore Orioles vs Kansas City Royals Prediction, Picks, Odds, News, Injury Report 3/14/24
Ahead of their Tuesday night meeting at Camden Yards, we have taken a look at Orioles vs Royals prediction, win probability and odds. It might be the early days of the baseball season, but there are still some MLB betting trends to consider.
Read below for expert insights from baseball writer Sam Cox.
Orioles vs Royals Prediction and Picks: Backing Baltimore To Cover
The Royals have lost three of their first four games by multiple runs, including a 6-4 loss to the Orioles on Easter Monday. Baltimore’s offence has made a scorching start to the season, powering them to three wins from four games.
Since the start of 2022, the Orioles have covered the spread more frequently than any other MLB team. Only three teams have covered the spread less frequently than the Royals over that period, and it’s hard to have much confidence in them here.
While Cole Irvin’s career 91 ERA+ isn’t too much to get excited about from an Orioles perspective, Alec Marsh had a 5.70 FIP in over 70 innings last season.
There hasn’t been a huge gap between the offensive production from these teams in 2024 so far. Baltimore has far more hitting talent, though, and should be able to hit Marsh out of this game early on even after his decent spring.

Baltimore Orioles News, Injury Report, Schedule: O’s Backed To Continue Strong Start
The Orioles are missing several key pitchers with Felix Bautista out for the year and Kyle Bradish and John Means working their way back from injuries. That hasn’t slowed them down much, however, as they have gone 3-1 to start the season, with Ryan Mountcastle and Gunnar Henderson both excelling at the plate.
Early signs are good with the bullpen. Baltimore also has several more elite prospects on the way, and it’s only a matter of time before Jackson Holliday is hitting in the big leagues.
They have completely dominated the Royals over the last 12 months, and there’s no reason for that trend to change on Tuesday night. Look for this stacked Baltimore line up to put up several runs early on before Cole Irvin hands over to the ‘pen.
Kansas City Royals News, Injury Report, Schedule: Marsh Overmatched
It projects to be another long year for the Royals even after good starts from Brady Singer and Seth Lugo. Their bullpen has started the year poorly, leaving them 1-3 after their Monday night loss to Baltimore.
Alec Marsh had a 1.52 WHIP and an ERA above four across AAA and AA last season. Walks have been a problem throughout his career, and he gave up 4.7 free passes per nine innings in the big leagues in 2023.
While injuries have weakened their pitching staff, including Kyle Wright going on the 60-day IL, Kansas City’s roster is simply not talented enough to compete with juggernauts like the Orioles. There is upside in their offence, but we can’t see them putting up enough runs to win this one.
Orioles vs Royals H2H: Baltimore Has Dominated
The Orioles have won 289 games against the Royals. Kansas City has just 229 wins against the Orioles.
Including Monday’s win, the Orioles have won eight of their last nine against the Royals. They went 5-1 in the 2023 season series, and got the better of the Royals 4-3 in the 2022 season series.
In the nine-game span with eight wins, the Orioles have covered today’s runline on seven occasions. They have also scored double-digit runs on three occasions.
