It’s been a fun start to the baseball season. Teams are getting into a rhythm, and early-season trends are starting to make themselves clear, so it’s time to take a look at Nationals vs Phillies Prediction Win Probability and odds for Friday night.

Our Expert Insights have already provided plenty of MLB winners in the first week of the 2024 campaign. MLB tipster Sam Cox is looking to end the week on a high after cashing the Tigers’ moneyline in game one against the Mets on Thursday.

Nationals vs Phillies Prediction and Picks: Phils Should Light Up Corbin

  • Selection: Philadelphia Phillies -1.5
  • Best Odds: 1.91
  • Bookmaker: Bet365
  • Stakes: 10/10

Odds are available as of April 5th, 2024. Odds may now differ.

The Phillies’ 2-4 start to the season might make some bettors wary here. Aaron Nola getting lit up for six earned runs by the Braves doesn’t mean he’s going to struggle against the Nationals, however, who project to have one of the worst offenses in the league.

Patrick Corbin has the worst ERA of qualifying pitchers since the start of the 2022 season. He conceded four earned runs, including two homers, to the Reds in his first outing of 2024, and has his work cut out against a deep, powerful Phillies offense.

This series is the ideal opportunity for the Phils to kickstart their season. It couldn’t be a much better matchup for them.

Washington Nationals News, Injury Report, Schedule: Bright Spots in Slow Start

Victor Robles and Stone Garrett are both out for the next week or so. Washington’s season has started as many would have expected with a series of losses to the Reds and Pirates. There have been some bright spots, though, with Jesse Winker, CJ Abrams, and Luis Garcia all performing well at the plate.

The bullpen is a bit of a concern early on. The strikeout numbers are good, but their relievers have an ERA just below five. Corbin is not going to make it deep into this game, so the Nats will be forced into using multiple relievers.

Philadelphia Phillies News, Injury Report, Schedule: Getting on Track

It has been a disappointing start to the season for the Phillies. Their offense is yet to get going aside from Bryce Harper’s three-homer game. The bullpen has been the worst in baseball thus far.

These are all in tiny samples, of course. The Phillies are a far more talented team than the Nationals, and this series should see them get on track after losing to the Braves and Reds in the early going.

Don’t be surprised if we see some big offensive numbers from the Phils on Friday night.

Nationals vs Phillies H2H: History Gives Phils the Edge

The Phillies hold a 486 to 449 advantage over the Nationals in the all-time series. Despite their impressive record overall in 2023, the Phils only went 7-6 against the rebuilding Nationals, which was a considerable drop-off after dominating them with 16 wins to three in 2022.

Philadelphia has covered the -1.5 run line in five of the last nine meetings. They have scored six or more runs in six of their last nine games against the Nats, too.
