The Houston Astros and New York Yankees meet again for one game on Thursday and it’s a makeup from the season-opening series that got canceled to start the year. Both teams will meet again later in the year and play a double-header to make up the other two affairs but that’s just geography and the calendar talking. Well, the streak ended for me last night, so, I must give Zach Grienke the props for busting our run of wins last night. I’ll also apologize to any tailers out there. I hate missing tips so it’s time to just walk back to the window and prepare to get that one back tonight.

The Astros and Yankees were supposed to open the season but that series and the second series of the season got cancelled so we started the 2022 campaign later than expected. As a result, the Stros and Yanks are squeezing this game in because they both had an off day and it made the most sense to get at least one of those games in the books in this spot.

Both teams played early games in New York on Wednesday so they probably arrived in Houston together after flying into the Lone Star State for this one tilt. The Yankees cruised to another win over the A’s, 5 – 3, after getting down 3 – 0 early in the game improving their record to 56 – 20. The Yes Network posted during the post-game that their record is the 6th best start to a season in the history of MLB.

Jameson Taillon had been reeling from his previous start and it looked like his poor run of results was going to continue until the Yankee bats bailed him out. Taillon settled in and the bash brothers did what big boys do homering in the same game for the 26th time as Yankee teammates. Aaron Judge and Giancarlo Stanton have lifted the Yankees to a 25 – 1 record when they both bash a baseball into the outfield bleachers in the same game.

The Astros and Yanks just met for a 4-game series in the Boogey-Down and they split those affairs with a pair of wins apiece. Luis Severino is the expected Yanks starting pitcher this evening, and he started the June 24th meeting with the Astros against Verlander. Verlander picked up a 2 – 0 win yesterday against the NY Mets as he just had full control of a pretty good lineup over in Flushing.

Severino scares the bejeezus out of me and yes, I am a Yankee fan going back way too long to mention if you hadn’t heard. His tendency to make a mistake isn’t costing him too many earned runs but he is giving up a home run in nearly every outing he makes. Severino has given up 6 bombs over his last 5 starts while getting jacked up twice in two of those recent outings.

I personally just think that seeing a run total of 3.5 for this Astros squad, knowing that at home they could score 4 runs in any inning alone, is too good to leave unattended. You are now free to roam about the cabin and fancy a wager on the Astros to score at least 4 runs against Severino tonight.
