The Reds and Yankees will take the stage at the Big House in the Boogie Down on Thursday night after a thrilling finish on Wednesday. Our resident baseball savant Ej Garr missed his offer last night by a half-run but there is no time to dwell on it. We pick up the pieces and get back on the horse with the Over in New York.

New York Yankees vs Cincinnati Reds Best Bet

Well, the damn Oakland A’s offence let me down last night as we only needed one more run to cross the plate to tackle that Over in Texas and they fell short. So, I am turning to my familiar place because you all know by now that I don’t miss Yankee games and I see everything happening pitch by pitch, night after night.

Obviously, I was irked I didn’t just go here yesterday for my totals bet since we saw 13 runs cross home plate, although you would not see the boxscore as one that produced all of those runs. The Yankees walked off the field in the bottom of the 10th with a 7 – 6 win but they only had six hits all night and there are naturally some concerns for me regarding this total at a straight 8.

Anthony Rizzo needs to take 10 days off and get his back in shape because he is simply not worth a damn in this lineup right now. Letting Kyle Higashioka catch is like walking on nails and forgetting to put your shoes on. He has no clue what he is doing with a bat in his hands and his catching has turned to pure rubbish too. He is a liability and right now so is Rizza. Let’s not talk about Aaron Hicks right now, because he also needs to wake up soon. Hicks has hit 2 homers recently and his showoff flip-of-the-bat garbage makes me sick to my stomach.

Why is that? Man, you hit one baseball out of the park and you act like you’re all that and a bag of chips? Yeah, no! Stop it! Aaron Boone didn’t even put Hicks out there on Wednesday and I haven’t even gotten started with Joey Freakin Gallo! (Yeah, I had a Seth Freakin Rollins moment, sorry about that and I know my editor is going to be like ahh Ej, come on man)

Hey, if you want vanilla write-ups you might not want to read my articles because after 25 years of doing this I like to have some fun, at least. I take this as seriously as anyone, however, and the betting side of the game is where my concern always is.

Now, let me get into this ‘Nasty Nestor’ stuff because I buy ZERO of the hype when it comes to this guy. I know he was a great addition to the rotation for a spell and he has certainly tasted a bit of success. Recently, it seems like he is just another slider away from getting lit up because it’s all he does. If you don’t come to the plate ready and looking for his 84 MPH slider at least 3 times in your AB, stop playing baseball!

Cortes and Montgomery seem to fall in love with that pitch and that stuff makes me wish I was still playing so I could jack them both up myself. So, my job is to talk about stats and give you the best bet of the night, right?

Let’s go over just how nasty Nestor has been lately because the only thing I have seen him do is giving up the long ball early and often. Over his last 6 starts, Cortes has been lit up 9 times and his last outing against Boston was purely disgusting. After only 73 pitches, Boone had seen enough and he yanked Cortes off the mound after only 3⅔ IP.

Slider, slider, slider, goodbye, goodbye, goodbye. I am telling you that everyone can just sit on that pitch now and wait until it comes because he can’t do anything else with a 92 MPH fastball.

Oh, the Rds are throwing Luis Castillo the mound and I will tell you what, the dude can pitch despite being on one bad baseball team. The Reds have been winning some big games lately and they just had that 5-game win streak snapped last night. I actually think the Reds are going to win this game. You certainly better not bet on the Yankees at 1.57 or something stupid full of juice like that. The only value on the side is the Reds at a lovely 2.75 on the Moneyline but you should snag this total to topple the 8 as well
