MLB Run Total Best Bet: Saturday July 9th
After busting out another easy winner on Friday night, our resident baseball expert Ej Garr is setting the bar for success with his totals betting. Ej is going back to Arlington on Saturday where the Texas Rangers and Minnesota Twins will be clashing for the second of their three-game series where runs will be scored and tickets will be cashed.

So, you are 3 – 1 following my baseball betting advice this week which means it’s time to roll out one more winner for the weekend. Last night’s game right here in the Beef State might have gotten off to a slow start with the scoring but once the glass was broken the runs just kept coming.
Well, we need to stay right here and play this total on Saturday for a few reasons and you know I will disclose the how’s and why’s for you as I tend to do. The line on this total was 7.5 on Friday night and it’s showing at 8 for this game which is not much to ask again.
Devin Smeltzer and Martin Perez are the expected starters for tonight’s contest and let’s see if we can find the prop I love to give out to you once in a while. Will Smeltzer give up a home ruin? Will Perez give up a bomb?
Oh, baby, will they, and if you are using a good book that offers those props at a reasonable price then you better be on that like white on rice! Smeltzer didn’t even stop at one his last time out as he gave up 3 homers to the Orioles in a 3 – 1 loss on July 3. Now, we can say he had a decent outing because those were the only 3 runs that were scored in the game against him and he certainly got no run support from his offence. Unfortunately, he seems to have that happen too often where he just needs a few runs to make his outing worthwhile.
That was my only real concern about suggesting this total to go over the 8 runs because I am not just riding Smeltzer’s ability to give up the long ball or trying to fade him per se. Perez is also prone to surrendering a meatball in the middle of the strike zone and he had a similar outing the last time he took the mound as that of Smeltzer. Perez only gave up 3 earned runs but he got lit up twice in a 7 – 3 win over the NY Mets. Essentially, these two teams came to Texas hitting the ball and it continued on Friday as we took advantage of it. I am of the mindset that regardless of some decent outings for both starting pitchers, they will both get hit hard when they do make mistakes. So, look for the props and expect more players to be crossing home plate on Saturday so we can finish our week with a 4 – 1 record shooting 80% while putting good money in our pockets.
I will leave you as I did in my last article pointing out that these two teams average over 4 runs per game and they seem to get there more often than not lately. We do not need some crazy,high-scoring affair to break out, as we need to see a 4 – 4 score on the board before we get to the 9th inning. I believe that will happen and that will end up putting more money in the bank where we like it. When more money is wrong I don’t want to be right, baby! Have a nice weekend and I will see you on Monday!
