MLB Run Total Best Bet: Friday July 8th
Our resident baseball expert Ej Garr is ready to end the week on a high note so he is turning to the total in Texas on Friday night. With a low, ready-to-serve total sitting at 7.5 we have two shades of Gray taking the mound and an over going on the board.

It may not be 50 Shades of Gray, but we do have a pair of Grays taking the mound for this Friday night baseball game in the Lone Star State! Texas and Minnesota both enjoyed Thursday off to make the trip to Arlington, TX, and both teams are hitting the ball right now. The Twins have put up a 4 – 0 record to the Over after a day of rest as they open this weekend series with the Rangers on Friday night.
Sonny Gray and Jon Gray are the expected hurlers for this American League affair, and, to be honest, they have both held their own to this point of the 2022 campaign.
Sonny Gray has done a great job with his control allowing a total of only 5 home runs this campaign, and the 1 wild pitch this season is impressive too. He is striking out a batter per inning (54 IP and 54 Ks) and has only issued 14 total walks to keep his WHIP in shape so why are we going over again?
Can I be Frank, or do I just need to be Ej for this article? Well, I will be both because I am Ej, and honestly, as you break down the body of work that Sonny Gray is producing, we have to look at the teams he has had the luxury of pitching against thus far. Alright, so he did a nice job against Boston early in the season but look at the opponents he has had over his last 9 games, please!
Cleveland, Baltimore, Detroit, Oakland, and yuck, yuck, yuck, and yuck, thank you! My mother could shut those offences down and she’s been dead for 11 years! Seriously I think he has been so lucky not to have been overly tested by some of these weak offences that he SHOULD BE shutting down because everyone is doing it too.
Jon Grey is doing a splendid job in 2022, although the Over is 8 – 6 in his 14 starts this year. I caught his last start against the Mets because I live in NY and I get to see all of the Yanks and Mets games on local television. Gray did a decent job keeping the Mets off-balance other than allowing the 2 home runs, as he only allowed 3 earned runs in the 4 – 1 loss to the Mets.
I will tell you the same thing about this Gray that some of the offences he has seen don’t exactly stack up to much either so I am of the faith that a double-Gray affair will lead to a 5 – 4 game and we only need 8 of those players to cross that plate to cash this puppy. I expect the 4 – 4 to come and as soon as it does we can smile our way to a winning week and I will be back on Saturday again.
Be sure to stop by over the weekend to get another gem from the big guy who is here to boost your bankroll and splash the pot. The Twins’ offence ranks 11th in the league putting up 4.61 runs per outing and the Rangers are ranked 15th averaging 4.46 runs per game so let’s hope they do what they normally do tonight. Finding 4 runs seems to be the plan every night and we’re okay with that with an Over 7.5 on the board!
- Selection: Over 7.5 Runs
- Best odds: 1.91 (Pinnacle)
- Stakes 4/10
