Our resident MLB expert Ej Garr spent Tuesday in concussion protocol but he’s been cleared to post winners again effective immediately. Ej is looking toward the total in Baltimore as the Orioles and Yankees play the 3rd game of their 4-game set on hump day

MLB Best Bet: May 18th

  • Orioles vs Yankees: Over 7.5 Runs

Orioles vs Yankees Best Bet

May 19, 00:05 (UK time)

So, I look for anything and everything that can help us cash a ticket so I open the board and there I see the total at 7.5 and a 1.90 offer from Bet365. Now listen to me and listen well because it’s time to go on a nice run and finish the week with winners right into the weekend.

I get that Gerrit Cole certainly can shut down any lineup here and there but let me address the first problem he will deal with today in Baltimore. Weather. We all know that as the weather gets warmer this kiddie park in Maryland turns into a hitters paradise. Even though the Orioles bats are not even close to describing a team that can mash especially if you just go by rankings and stats.

The Orioles sit in the 28th position of the MLB rankings putting up 3.34 runs per game. Remember now, that’s about all we’ll need them to do here so let’s not make it out like we’re asking for too much to happen to take this total down.

The Yankees have 3 players who have already mashed double-digit bombs and Aaron Judge leads all of baseball with 15 homers after the pair of dingers he smashed on Tuesday night. Giancarlo Stanton and Anthony Rizzo have each bashed 10 homers and the 3 of these dudes are in the top-5 of the American League tearing the cover off the ball!

Now, let’s talk Gerrit Cole again as he will be opposing Jordan Lyles who is scheduled to make the start on the mound tonight. Cole has the stuff and it’s why the Yankees made him quite n offer to wear pinstripes, to begin with. Cole’s ERA is just under 3.00 and anyone following the Yanks knows that his first start of the year against Boston saw him knocked out early and it took him some time to get his confidence back.

Cole has given up 5 home runs already this season and this park is not going to make that stat stay there very easily. As I said, the Oriole bats are not intimidating but they can certainly lineup a Cole fastball and give him some trouble. Cole’s fastball should be the only pitch the Orioles wait for because he will throw it at least 4 times in an AB that goes deep into the count.

I foresee Cole giving up another 3 earned runs, at least, and then we get to watch Jordan Lyles and what the Yankee bats should be able to do with him. Lyles is giving up an average of 10 hits per 9 IP and his command of the strike zone… wait, he has no command of the zone and he is 3 pitches away from giving up 7 runs alone to the Yankees tonight.

Oh, by the way, Lyles started against the Yanks back on April 26th. He got jacked up 3 times against this lineup in that outing and that was in New York with the weather still holding a little chill in the air.

Granted, Yankee Stadium and Baltimore feature two of the smallest parks in the league, and tonight we take advantage of the low 7.5 total at 1.90 because it’s there! Sure, you might have a straight 8 at your bookmaker when you wake up in the morning, but the early line that I see as I post this tip shows O/U 7.5 at 1.90 and we are on it like white on rice!

  • Selection: Over 7.5 Runs
  • Best odds: 1.90 (Bet365)
  • Stakes 4/10

Odds as of 10:00 am May 18th, 2022. Odds may now differ.
