I know you enjoyed cashing the 1st 5 inning total last night because of how it happened and how it all unfolded for us to end up with a cashed ticket in our hands. It’s only 4 – 0 Mets going to the bottom of the 5th inning and we need some Amazin’ Mets magic to answer the bell with no time left to spare.

Yeah, you old-school Mets fans out there know who those Amazin’ Mets are! Well, this year’s version of the Amazin’s is smashing the ball around the park seemingly every night lately and baseball is one of those sports that when things are going in a certain direction, you ride it out until something changes.

I have been handicapping sports since the 1980s and it’s not even so much a trend as it is how things just seem to work out. When teams are rolling they just seem to get production out of the entire lineup and when a team is struggling to hit the ball together they all stink together too.

Seriously though, until we see anything able to slow down the Mets lineup right now, we just have to keep riding the wave and it’s not like the Nationals can shut anyone down. This is usually the day for Anibal Sanchez to take the bump for the Nats but he is now down for the next two months with a neck injury. So, as it stands right now as I write this piece up we do not know who is taking the mound for the Nationals. 

We do know Carlos Carrasco is going to for the Mets, however, and he has been stellar with a 5 – 1 record knowing he can get run support in an instant. The last time Carrasco took the mound he only gave up 6 hits but he allowed 5 earned runs against the Phillies. The Mets ended up winning that affair, 8 – 6, bringing his ERA for the season to just under 4. 

Whoever the Nats call upon to make the start this afternoon, the task of shutting down the Mets right now is hard to envision. Another double-digit explosion on Tuesday night makes it the 4th time over the last 5 games that the Mets found at least 8 runs.

Our goal here is to have you walking to the window with a cashed ticket in your pocket as often s possible, and instead of going with the 1st 5 total this time the game total of 9 is reasonably priced enough at 1.91 to make that the bet of the day. There is no name the Nationals could put on that mound that would take me off of this action, but the Mets broadcasters are suggesting that Evan Lee might get the spot start. That’s nice… fancy a wager on the Over 9 and just roll with the Mets bats until they cool off.
