MLB Run Total Best Bet: Tuesday, June 7th
The Baltimore Orioles will play host to the Chicago Cubs on Tuesday night for an inter-league battle and our resident baseball expert Ej Garr is eyeing a play on the 1st 5 inning run total. The Cubs rarely make a stop here but the last time they were here in 2017 they swept the Orioles out of their ballpark.

An inter-league battle will ensue when the Orioles and Cubs take the field on Tuesday night and the first thing that caught my eye was the low team total for Chicago through 5 innings of play. With an O/U of 2.5, the Cubs are going up against Kyle Bradish, and in case you haven’t heard yet he should work for the Royal Air Force! Why is that, you ask?
Well, no one gives up bombs like Mr Bradish and we know this because in 7 starts over the 2022 campaign, he has given up at least one home run – in all of them! Over his last 6 starts, his longest outing has only been 7 innings against St. Louis. Otherwise, Bradish has barely made it into the 5th inning this season, much less any further than that.
I think we have just gotten to the point where expecting Bradish to make a mistake makes fading him early the best plan of attack. Bradish has yet to give up less than 2 earned runs in any of his outings this season, and all we will need is to see him give up a 3-run shot before the 6th inning to cash another ticket.
To be honest, I expect the Cubs to win this game because of who Bradish is going up against tonight. Keegan Thompson has gone from the bullpen to a place in the starting rotation and he doesn’t seem to mind stretching out his arm to give the Cubbies 5 innings. Thompson has started 4 games now and the team is 4 – 0 in those affairs which always gives a manager an impression.
When an offence likes the flow a starter gives to the defence, they go hand in hand to play confidently and comfortably. At the same token, the Cubs’ offence has sputtered at times but they still rank 12th in the league averaging 4.51 runs per game. I would point out each team’s defensive numbers but I would hate to make your stomach upset if you are just starting your day or getting near lunch hour.
Let’s just say these two teams don’t flash the leather with the best of them and let that be all that goes through your mind when it comes to either the Orioles or Cubs. The nice part about bets like these are getting the ticket cashed while not needing an overwhelming amount of things to happen to find 3 runs.
Patrick Wisdom slowed down with his team-leading 12th home run in the first game of the 4-game set against the Cards so he is due to get back on track and hopefully be our guy that smacks the ball into the stands. Should I make that my bonus tip of the day because the line is rather gaudy on Wisdom to drive a ball into the outfield stands? I like it because he is due and no one serves it up as well as our good buddy Kyle Bradish but let’s modify that prop.
Patty Wisdom to have Over 1.5 bases is listed with odds of 2.33. That is our bonus tip of the game to go with the Cubs Over 2.5 runs through the 1st 5 innings.
- Selection: Cubs Over 2.5 Runs 1st 5 Innings
- Best odds: 2.10 (Pinnacle)
- Stakes 4/10
- Bonus Tip: Patrick Wisdom Over 1.5 bases (2.28)
