The A’s entered Wednesday night’s tilt against the birds having already taken wins from the first two games of the 4-game series as the Orioles were held to just 1 run on both nights. Frankie Montas hurled 6 innings in game 1 of the set which the A’s took 5 – 1 and Cole Irvin tossed 5 innings in the game 2 win over the Orioles, 2 – 1.
Amazingly, the Orioles were held to only 1 run again last night and yet it was good enough to earn them the victory over the A’s, 1 – 0. One simple error by the A’s shortstop in the 5th inning ultimately cost the A’s the game as they were unable to respond against a combined 5 Oriole hurlers
Athletics starter Daulton Jefferies gave another sound effort pitching 6 innings without an earned run and he has only allowed 2 earned runs through 3 starts this season. The under has hit in all 3 of his outings and speaking of under, how about the run the Orioles are on to start the 2022 campaign?
The Orioles have played 12 games thus far and sit with a 4 – 8 record after last night’s win in game 3 of this series with Oakland. The under has hit or pushed the number all 12 times so if you haven’t caught on yet you are missing out on easy money night after night. That’s right, kids, had you been betting the Orioles under since opening day you have not lost one of those bets yet.
Tyler Wells (0-1; 6.35) gets the nod for the Orioles in game 4 of the series and that is certainly one of the reasons the A’s are home favourites. His inflated ERA is a result of only being able to toss a total of 5 ⅔ innings from two starts in 2022 which both ended up being Oriole losses.
Paul Blackburn (1-0; 1.80) is expected to take the mound for the A’s in this affair and his team is 2 – 0 in his pair of starts to begin the 2022 campaign. Blackburn has gone 5 innings in each of his appearances and he has gotten plenty of run support to make his life a little easier. The A’s were up 8 – 0 in the second inning of his first start against the Rays and all he needed to do from there was get through 5 and let the bullpen get their work in.
I might add that this line sure seems favourable for A’s supporters because the line setters are not putting a big price on the home team at 1.83 on the Moneyline. Had the A’s comeback and won game 3 last night they would be going for the 4-game sweep but that is obviously not the case now. I think we will get lucky that Baltimore won last night’s game so the oddsmakers left us more room for this tip on Oakland to take 3 of 4 games from Baltimore.
The Under 8 on this total is also listed at 1.83 so it was just a matter of choosing which direction to go here. Can the trend continue with the Baltimore under? The way both of these offences look at the moment there is really no reason to shy away from that offer right now. So, enjoy what could potentially be two plays from this game if you like your totals and don’t mind paying a little vig/juice.
