We start the week off with a 1st 5 inning total in Detroit as the Twins and Tigers begin a series within the division on Monday night. Why are we playing the early total?
Well, let’s just cut to the chase I guess if you want to just get right to it like that. I like your style! So, despite the fact that the Twins have to pick up the gear and jaunt over to Detroit, the Tigers were in Cleveland this weekend so they are also on the move having to travel overnight to get here.
The Twins have now won 4 games in a row and what a comeback they completed on Monday afternoon to sweep the Royals after being down 6 – 0 early. The 7 – 6 win pushed the Twins to 24 – 16 as we’ve basically gotten a quarter of the way through the 2022 regular season.
Minnesota could have easily just given up and been happy with taking 2 of 3 wins from Kansas City but you could see how fired up this team got in the dugout as the comeback started to happen. The top of the order instilled the fire to inspire Minnesota as Luis Arraez, Jorge Polanco, and Max Kepler combined to reach base 10 times.
Let’s not make it out like the Twins lacked chances to drive home runs before they got to the 8th inning to finally get on the scoreboard. Minnesota left 18 men on base and it seemed like there was danger all afternoon but just couldn’t dent the goose egg. Then, the comeback began as the Twins scored 5 runs in the 8th inning and plucked a pair in the 9th to finish the job so everyone could drive home safely!
Now, starting pitching is the next reason we can expect all 5 of these runs to be crossing home plate before we get to the 6th inning. Chris Archer we all know has a good bit of experience to rely on with 10 years to his credit as a starter in the bigs. His time with Tampa Bay is certainly where he built most of his stats and now he showing an ERA of 4.10 with his new team and still looking for his first win.
Archer has made 7 starts and is 0 – 1 because he basically is throwing 3 or 4 innings and getting out of dodge thus far. Chris has yet to break the 80 pitch count in of his outings and any sign of trouble will see him taking an early shower. We won’t expect him to be involved with the decision unless he gets torched and ends up with another loss and a win here sure seems unlikely when you can’t go past the 5th inning to even qualify.
Not only has Archer given up at least 1 HR in 5 of his 7 starts but his opponent, Beau Brieske? Oh, baby, so you need another prop bet for tonight? Will Brieske give up a home run in this start? Hell, he’s given up a couple of bombs in 3 different starts and 7 overall through 5 starts so expect early fireworks here with these two on the same mound!
We could certainly go ahead and play the full-time total but it’s more fun getting paid early as these two will likely give up the long ball to aid our cause.
We need the score of this game to be 3 – 2 at the end of the 5th inning to cash this ticket at 1.93 which is more than useful. I’ll see you at the window and we can enjoy the last 4 innings of this game with more money in our pockets!
