The Seattle Mariners will host the Cincinnati Reds for the first time since the 2019 campaign, as two Interleague opponents meet for the 8th time since 2002. 

After sweeping the White Sox this past weekend, the Reds arrive at T-Mobile Park as the underdogs for this affair. Cincinnati outscored Chicago 27 – 5 and for the first time in a week, the line setters slap the Reds as the dogs tonight.

I am not buying that at all, and the 2.31 offer from Bet365 on the Reds Moneyline will work for me in this spot. 

Seattle has a struggling offense that barely averages over three runs a game, and this past week showed even more inconsistency. Through 16 games this season, the Mariners have only scored more than 5 runs once, and that was a total of 6 against Toronto late last week.

To beat the Reds, you have to have the ability to outscore them, and I don’t think this Mariners offense can keep the pace. Give me those Reds on the road to pull the upset in game one of this Interleague series with the Mariners on Monday night.

Mariners’ starter George Kirby has had two rough outings from his three starts in 2024. After a stellar start against Boston to start the campaign, Kriby hasn’t lasted past the fourth inning in his last two outings. 

Frankie Montas has given Cincinnati three starts with at least five innings hurled, and the Reds are 2 – 1 in his starts. Montas is carrying an impressive 2.16 ERA into his fourth start of the season, and that should come in handy for us bettors on the dog in Seattle tonight!

The Mariners will finish this 3-game series with the Reds on Wednesday and have Thursday off to travel to Colorado. After three days in Denver to face the Rockies, the Mariners will get another day off before heading to Texas to play the Rangers for three games.

Seattle has six starting pitchers on the shelf, although Bryan Woo might be returning to the rotation next month. 

Leftfielder Dom Canzone strained an AC Joint, and he is questionable to start the series in Seattle.

The Reds will wrap up this trip to Seattle, and they will also have Thursday off to get back home to face the Angels on Friday. After the 3-game set with the Angels, the Phillies will be in Cincinnati for four days, and then they’ll hit the road again.

The Reds come to Seattle having won their last three games this weekend against the White Sox, as unimpressive as that may seem. The White Sox are playing AAA baseball with only two wins the entire season, but the Reds took advantage of it as they should have.

Cincinnati has five relievers on the injury report, joined by two shortstops and a center fielder. Sam Moll is the only pitcher on that list expected to return before the end of April.
