Caitlin Clark WNBA Rookie of the Year Odds: Ponytail Pete a shoo-in

With a 97.09% implied probability, Caitlin Clark is firmly atop the WNBA Rookie of the Year odds table. She is having an exceptional rookie season for the Indiana Fever, helping the team top their 13-win record from last season. She is averaging 17.9 points, 8.3 assists, and 5.7 rebounds per game on 35.3 minutes per game.

Although mostly known for her long-range shooting, she is shooting 32.9% from beyond the arc this season. Her value to the team lies more in her passing and pushing the fastbreak off of defensive rebounds. The Indiana Fever average 9.9 points per game off fastbreaks, which ranks them 6th in the league.

Clark’s biggest knock this season has been her turnover numbers. She had 10 in her season opener and is now averaging 5.7 per game. Still, her PER is quite good at 18.1 and her 1.4 steals per game certainly help her case.

Angel Reese WNBA Rookie of the Year Odds: 7th Overall Pick Bayou Barbie makes her claim

6 players were drafted ahead of Angel Reese in the 2024 WNBA draft, but she has Randallstown native has blown almost everyone else out of the water. She is sitting in 2nd place in the WNBA Rookie of the Year odds race with 11.00 odds next to her name.

Reese is averaging 13.5 points, 12.9 rebounds and 1.8 assists for the Chicago Sky this year, while also grabbing 5.2 offensive boards and 1.3 steals per game. She crashes the boards on both sides quite well and her intensity and strength allow her to get wide-open looks often. The problem is her touch around the basket and shooting. Despite doing excellent work to get herself in good positions under the basket, she often struggles to finish the play.

Her 38.7% field goal percentage will have to improve in the coming seasons if she wants to have a bigger impact on the court. Especially the 18.2% from beyond the 3-point line, even though she doesn’t shoot much from there.

Her PER is 18.3, but the Chicago Sky are 8th in the WNBA standings, 3 wins behind the Indiana Fever.
