Dallas Cowboys v New York Giants Same-Game Parlay: Dallas Defence Dominates DeVito
Dallas Cowboys Over 3.5 Sacks
Dallas came within touching distance of a potentially season-defining victory over bitter rivals the Eagles in Philadelphia last Sunday, but couldn’t get themselves into the endzone on three of the four second-half opportunities they had to do so and wound up suffering a 28-23 defeat.
Now they welcome the New York Giants to Texas as they look to exact revenge for what they will feel was an undeserved loss and will be looking to punish another of their divisional rivals to get back on the winning train – having already embarrassed them 40-0 in Week 1.
The Giants are skidding towards a meaningless season faster than Daniel Jones put pen-to-paper on the ridiculous contract they handed him in the offseason, and will be starting their third QB in three games on Sunday.
The positive for New York is their draft position should allow them to start again at quarterback, the negatives are that the football they are serving up is dross, they’re on the hook for $47m for ‘Danny Dimes’ next year, and the undrafted rookie they’re starting might get murdered by Micah Parsons on Sunday.
He has been sacked eight times already in his 41 dropbacks, with six of those coming in last weekend’s defeat against the Las Vegas Raiders, in which Maxx Crosby and the rest of that defence generated 26 pressures while holding the Giants to just 6 points.
Protecting the quarterback has been an issue for New York all year – so its unsurprising that two of them are on injured reserve – and their carousel of passers has suffered at the hands of opposing defences more than any other.
Between them, Big Blue’s QBs lead the league in sacks taken – enduring more than even Sam Howell – averaging 5.4 per game through Week 10 and allowing season-high sack totals for the Seattle Seahawks (11), Las Vegas Raiders (8), Miami Dolphins, and this week’s opponent Dallas Cowboys (both 7).
The Giants’ offensive line is both injury-ravaged and a shambles, and this matchup represents the biggest difference between a team’s pass-rushing unit and their opponent’s pass-blocking unit in Week 10 – with a combined pressure rate of 89% according to Fantasy Life’s Ian Hartitz.
Tommy DeVito 1+ Interceptions
What do you get when you mix a defensive line that pressures the quarterback in double-quick time, a coverage unit that picks off opponents in their home stadium more than any other side, and a quarterback that holds on to the ball too long? Turnovers.
DeVito managed to avoid throwing an interception in his seven-pass season debut against the Jets but was not so lucky against the Raiders as he went downfield hoping for the best.
The result was interceptions, as you’d expect, with the UDFA throwing two picks that led to 10 Raiders points – including a horrible heave into double coverage in the direction of Jalin Hyatt in the second quarter.
The Cowboys are racking up turnovers at an impressive rate and have averaged 1.8 interceptions per game in their wins which bodes well here, given they are favoured by almost three scores.
Dallas are the epitome of flat-track bullies and they beat the brakes off the sides they are supposed to beat, covering the spread in wins where they were favoured by three points or more by an average of 23.5 points per game.
CeeDee Lamb Over 77.5 Receiving Yards
One man helping them to beat down on their opponents is CeeDee Lamb, who has looked rejuvenated since Dallas’ defeat in San Francisco back at the beginning of October.
Lamb has earned more than seven receptions (averaging 10.0 per game) in his last three, going for over 100 yards in each game at an average of 155.3 across them after earning just four receptions in four of his first five games.
He had 77 yards on four catches in Dallas’ season opener against New York and historically has always enjoyed his matchup with the Giants – averaging 104.7 yards per game when they face each other at AT&T Stadium.
Opponent WR1s have also been cooking against New York this year; with Dolphins’ Tyreek Hill (181), 49ers’ Deebo Samuel (129), Bills’ Stefon Diggs, and Jets’ Garrett Wilson (both 100) all going off for treble figures in yards, with Terry McLaurin also managing a season-high 90 receiving yards against them.
There is a good chance CeeDee Lamb has 100 yards himself and that’s worth a punt on its own at 3.20, while I’ll also be taking the CeeDee 100+ receiving yards and DeVito 2+ Interceptions double at 9.50 myself.
