Lewis isn’t exactly a volume striker, but what he lacks in technique he makes up for with devastating knockout power, which is usually enough to keep his opponents at bay. Lewis always goes for the kill, which is one of the reasons why he is so fun to watch. You don’t want to miss a Derrick Lewis fight.
Lewis is 6’3” tall with a reach of 79”. He usually weighs in around the 265 lbs limit. Lewis surrenders one inch in reach to Oliynyk.

The last time we saw Oliynyk in the cage, was when he fought fellow MMA veteran Fabricio Werdum in May of 2020. The Russian looked sharper than ever, showcasing a shredded physique alongside good striking. Oleksiy eventually managed to get a big upset victory on the judges’ scorecards, which handed him one of the biggest wins of his career.
The Russian stands 6’2” tall with a reach of 80”. The last time we saw him he weighed in at 235 lbs (106 kgs). He surrenders one inch in height and 30 lbs in weight to Lewis.
Fight Prediction
While the Russian looked sharp in his last performance, Lewis is a force to be reckoned with if you stand in front of him. Oleksiy will most likely do everything he can to get this fight to the ground, but consistent attempts will probably render him gassed out and Lewis will be able to capitalize on that.
2.53 Strikes Landed/min. | 3.72 Strikes Landed/min.
49% Striking Accuracy | 50% Striking Accuracy
The only problem with Lewis is that he doesn’t throw a lot of strikes, but picks his shots and hopes for the best. Sure, it has handed him 18 knockouts, but the times it doesn’t succeed he usually gasses himself out as well. The Russian is significantly older, however, and has taken more damage in his lifelong career. Lewis is coming off of two uneventful bouts and is looking to add another knockout to his highlight reel.
0.48 Takedowns Avg./15 min. | 2.71 Takedowns Avg./15 min.
24% Takedown Accuracy | 46% Takedown Accuracy
I think the Russian has bitten off a bit more than he can chew here. I’m going with Lewis, where an eight-year age advantage and power advantage, should be enough to make him the victor.
I’m expecting Lewis to end up on his back for the majority of round one, and eventually a failed takedown attempt will promise Lewis an opening for his right hand.
Prediction: Derrick Lewis (1.45) via second-round knockout.
